My sons scores are as follows, he did the test this past Saturday.

BB Throw: 57
Pull-up: 9
Shuttle Run: 6.8
Situps: 70
Pushup: 35
1 mile run: 5:59

I saw the post in regards to the maximum and average performance scores. My concern is the push ups do they meet the minimum requirement for the test? Or should we just redo this all together. He's a runner on cross country and track, so I know we lack a little bit of upper body strength. Don't worry about being completely honest no hurt feelings over here. He received his nomination so just finishing this up to complete his application.

During this past Summer Seminar, I had a chance to talk with cadets and ballpark minimums for all the events. I believe around 30 will allow you to squeak by, but 35 is definitely low. Since you are able to submit unlimited attempts at the CFA, I'd suggest he submit the score and leave it at the discretion of admissions. If they have him retake it, no foul no harm. He has stellar scores in everything else apart from that, all sure passes.

Thank you that was helpful.

Do you happen to know the minimum on pull-ups? (assuming they are done with correct form of course)

30 is the minimum for pushups and 3 is the minimum for pullups (for men). Both are incredibly low, but that's why they are minimums. Just remember that even if you meet the minimum mark in every event, you need a total score on the CFA which is greater than that, but those scores look perfectly fine to me to pass other than the pushups. Also just saying that the shuttle run max is 7.8...... wow that is an incredible shuttle run. Don't know if that was done properly or not but kudos.

6.8 is way faster than the maximum and seems very improbable. If the time is correct, are you sure DS didn’t run 30 yards instead of 40?

Thanks! My son is at or above the averages on everything but the pull-ups. Was concerned he'd fail, but he can do more than 3!

That 6.8 shuttle run might prompt a follow-up from USMA, as it’s well below the maximum (i.e. minimum) time. DD had a rather fast time herself, which led to a phone call from USMA to her CFA examiner. He confirmed the time and conditions, and all turned out well. I trust the same will be for your DS.

Unless things have changed, I believe you can only officially submit one CFA result. That will then be your score in points. If the result is less than passing, USMA may request a retake if they so choose.
