CFA Shuttle Run

I am currently prepping for the CFA, but I have found that the event I am having the most trouble with is the shuttle run. I find that I am constantly slipping at every turn and the whole event seems kinda awkward to me. Does anyone have any tips on how to improve my time?

Look up some YouTube videos on it, or check out Mountain Tactical Institute, I think they have videos too
 
When it comes time to take the test, do it in a gym with a “sticky” floor, if possible. My DD was fortunate to do her CFA on a freshly refurbished wood floor, which did wonders for her time. Until then, try to sweep the dust off the floor with a towel, which will help a bit with traction. Try a different pair of shoes too.
 
Clean the soles of your shoes and run it on a clean hardwood gym floor.

DS played basketball and traction varies widely on school gym floors. Once your soles are fouled with gunk etc. they need to be cleaned.

Or can you do it outside on concrete etc? Or a tennis court?
 
I’ll double check if I can do it on a different surface because our gym floor is made up of this laminated, dusty wood floor. Thanks for all the advice.
 
I had the same issue. I ended up doing mine on the school track where I ran the mile. You will not encounter the same problem on a rubber track; it has great traction. Also, if you can get a pull up bar near a mile long track, I would recommend doing your CFA there. Everything can be done in close proximity, and it eliminates almost all walking between events.

Make sure that you start you turn a bit before you need to touch the line as well. Your momentum will carry you past it and make you inefficient if you start your turn too late.
