I just received an email that I need to retake my Pull-ups video. Does this mean my scores are passing, because why would they make me retake the pull-ups video if my scores aren't passing in the first place? Wouldn't they just tell me to retake my CFA entirely instead?

Thanks for your help.

You are being requested to redo the pullups because either your video was done incorrectly - could not see your whole body, etc. or because your form or technique was incorrect. They want to see (in a correctly shot video) you do the pullups using the correct technique. Your CFA will not be passing until you show you can do the pullups.

Now, a fair question is say you put down you 15 pullups. But there were a few where you kicked your feet or it was unclear if your chin was over the bar. If you put on your original CFA that you did 15 pullups but when you redo the video with perfect cadence form, you can only do 10 (which is passing) what does USMA do? Do you have to take the whole CFA over again or do they just give you credit for 10 pullups? I would imagine that this happens quite a bit.

Potentially means, that they probably examined your video that you originally took, and it wasn't to standards, you they won't accept it.

Take a breath, review the form and technique carefully against official sources, including how the video must be filmed, be grateful you just have to re-do one section at this time, and get it done. Might be some were counted that didn’t meet the standard. Might be the video was done incorrectly and didn’t have the required elements in frame.

I understand, but would West Point ask you to redo videos if the number of push-ups itself was not passing? Wouldn't they just ask you to retake the whole CFA at that point? Meaning, if West Point requests a video retake, the number scores are passing but the form or the way the video was taken is not.

I will definitely do that. Retaking the video is a lot easier than retaking the whole CFA obviously. Thanks for the feedback

My DS had to repeat the push-up video. I didn’t have the angle right to see if his elbows got to 90 degrees. He did 60 ish push-ups in the CFA. We had no way to know if that was passing or how many they discounted. Just did them again with a better video. All he could control

You don't have a documented accepted number of pullups at this point - either due to video or your form. I would imagine that you must be close - i.e. you are a guy and didn't do just 2 pullups. I would expect that you would be asked to retake the whole thing if that were the case. I honestly don't know if anyone knows the answer to your question about whether your pullups are passing. How many did you do on your original test? There are published max and avgs floating around here.

how long did you hear back after submission of video?

I just received word that my raw numbers are passing, but they need me to retake the video due to an object blocking a part of my foot. Thank you for the feedback either way

If I remember correctly - the first CFA review took a while (3-4 weeks). His regional admissions counselor sent an email after the portal displayed that the pushup video was rejected. I believe he uploaded the new video to the portal AND sent directly to the admissions counselor and the remedial pushup video was checked green in a week or less

Would USMA ask you to redo the push up portion of the CFA if they felt you weren’t competitive?

I would say don’t overthink it and follow the instructions. If asked to redo something, get that s*#t done per the rubric/instructions. That’s what I would tell my kiddo.
