Hello everyone! My name is Richard Kim and I am currently a senior residing in Temple City, California. I finished my West Point application on Nov.20, and basically all I am doing is nervously waiting. My nomination forms were in since August, but I still haven't heard from the congressional office yet. The office usually gives out nominations during late December and January, so I'm not too freaked out, yet. I was wondering whether I could be eligible for an LOA.
My stats: GPA:4.2 SAT:2000, AP Scholar (9 AP and Honors classes (3 presently)). I am the co-captain and three-year varsity member of my tennis team, Sports Editor of the school newspaper, 4-year orchestra member, 3-time southern youth music festival cello competition winner, principal cellist of Eagle Rock Orchestra, Church youth leader, Christian mission coordinator, and public relations officer for the Model United Nations Club. I am fluent in Korean, and have learned Spanish for three years.

CFA: basketball throw: 64 ft.
pullups:13
shuttle run: 8:30
pushups:50
situps:69
mile: 6:18

I would greatly appreciate advice from alumni and anyone else. Thanks!

Buddy you are as qualified as anyone! Good work:thumb:. See you next year...press your congressman to get the nomination unless your parents are military then you have a backup.

You seem very well qualified. However, you never know till you apply! Good luck :thumb:

Thanks for the comments everyone. Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up until I see the letter actually in my hands. Getting into West Point would be the best Christmas present of all time.

Temple city? That's not too far from Lakewood (where I'm from).

Anyways, you seem to have really good chances. Nominations take time because most of our congressman don't even have interviews until January (like mine).

Feinstein's office is usually quick to interview. I haven't even heard from Boxer's yet.

Just wait, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Thankss man. I have my congressional interview Jan.5 and I'm pretty excited and nervous. Hope everything is going well for you too.
