I know my DD will have just started his Plebe year but his sister's wedding is August 8th. Any chance they will let him leave for an overnight to attend her wedding? It means alot to him.

As an upperclassman, yes. My DD already has leave approved for her brother's wedding in September. As a Plebe, it is much more difficult, but maybe. It depends on the company. Have your DS talk to his CC (Company Commander.) Not the one from INDOC, but his company once the academies year starts as soon as possible. It will help if your DS is totally squared away on everything else. It will be tough so early during Plebe year, difficult to impossible during sea year, and don't even get me started on what he will miss if he goes active duty. You can pm me for more info.

Not sure if things have changed but husband and I wanted to get married in October 20+ yrs ago. His brother was to be best man and was a plebe at KP. He was NOT granted leave. We moved date to Labor Day so brother could be there. I'd say don't count on it. And congrats!

To be safe, I agree that rescheduling the wedding would be the only way to insure attendance. Christmas break would be best.

I was granted a special lib to go to my sisters wedding prior to Acceptance Day plebe year. Honestly nobody on this forum can answer the question definitively. You would need to contact someone at the Academy, and even then you may not get a definitive answer. Sorry to say that missing family events is a regular part of life in this industry.

Do not count on leave - especially in early August when they're just starting out on the first trimester.
