Chances of making it off of the VT Waitlist?

I won the four-year NROTC scholarship in late April; however, I was assigned to UNC (my first choice). UNC denied my application so I immediately sent in a placement change request to Virginia Tech. I was put on a waitlist and have not heard any news recently. Will this process continue throughout the summer? Does anyone have an idea of when most waitlists will clear?

I heard that VT didn't take anyone off the waitlist this year as their yield was higher than expected

I was waitlisted at Tech, I got a letter in the mail saying they would not take any people on the waitlist.

VT is notorious for never taking people off the waitlist. My DD attended both undergrad and grad at VT. In her total time I recall her saying only 1 year did they take anybody off their list, and it was only 80 people.

That being said I think the OP is talking about transferring their scholarship, thus, they are already admitted. In turn the chances might be slim for transferring the scholarship since they have such a high matriculation rate.

You are correct. I was accepted to Virginia Tech; however, I am on a waitlist for their NROTC unit. Thank you for the clarification.

Exactly how does that waitlist work? When I applied, I just indicated that I wanted to join the Corps, and at an info session I attended they tell you that you declare your branch around the time you select classes. I didn't think there was a limit to each branch of service within the Corps.

The OP is a scholarship recipient which is tied to his original school, i.e. UNCCH. They can still go VT, but right now they are not guaranteed the scholarship, thus they are on the waitlist to transfer the scholarship. In your case dashg16 you would be considered a "walk on" and once in the Corps you decide which branch.
