Chatter, Congrats & Questions 2026 USCGA Appointment Thread

I am not sure that this thread is the place for this, but I just wanted to thank everyone on SAF, not only in the USCGA forum but those in the others as well. Everyone with whom I have communicated, as well as those I have not communicated with, have helped me to an unimaginable extent during the admissions process following the submission of my application to the USCGA c/o 2026. Unfortunately, I did not receive an appointment, and I would like to wish the best for all others experiencing the same, as well as for those accepted, those deferred to RD, and those applying RD to begin with. Just a few years ago I would have never imagined I'd be applying to a service academy, but the process in itself has truly allowed me to learn and grow. I aspire to pursue a commissioning in the United States Coast Guard in the future, and I wish to meet some of you in real life one day, hopefully in the Coast Guard blues. As many times I have said it before, good luck to all wherever you may end up in the future!

:)

There are currently 3 Bears Days on the schedule for spring along with overnight Academy Experience Programs (AEP) for Appointees and Scholar Appointees. If you have not previously been able to visit campus and you are still trying to decide whether USCGA is the place for you, these are good opportunities to help you decide.

I know most applicants probably received an invite, but just wanted to point them out just in case anyone missed them.

People certainly have received appointments over the weekend this year (especially calls from coaches for recruited athletes I think). Since the Dec 23 deadline is not too far away, I would expect more appointments to be sent out over the weekend.
My DS received a Sunday call and not a recruited athlete. He is so grateful too!!

We have just learned that my daughter's DoDMERB file is now complete. Can someone please tell us how long it would take to get the appointment updated to reflect that? She does not have any medical issues that would cause concern. Thank you.

Our daughter got a coach call yesterday. So excited! She plans to accept. She applied RA sometime in December maybe; it’s all a blur? Can’t thank everyone on this forum enough. We have found answers to all of our burning questions and then some here.
Congratulations!! Which sport?

^^ Same exact situation here, except my DD applied RA 1/4/22. I second the huge thanks to everyone here and hope to pay it forward. Very excited for all the class of 2026!

Congrats to everyone! and good Luck to everyone applying! If I could make it, anyone can!

I believe my DS has mentioned your daughter yesterday....they were in AIM together. He got his conditional appointment (DODMERB) in Dec and his full appointment last week! Very excited for all the kids receiving their appointments!

How long from the letter in the Portal to the big envelope?
It matters if you were medically qualified at the time of the appointment. If you're not, they'll wait until your medical fit. After you are qualified, you'll have to fill out some information then it'll might be 1.5-2 weeks I've heard?
