Chatter, Congrats & Questions 2026 USCGA Appointment Thread

Out of curiosity, how many emails have you sent your AO and when? I have emailed my AO several times over the past months without receiving a response. Called Admissions recently to ask a question regarding my application and no answer.
Once in late July, once in August, and once in November. Maybe one other time in the fall? I know they must get a ton of emails - especially this time of year regarding applications, but still frustrating.

Thank you, I appreciate the information. Frustrating indeed, but I suppose I must continue to move forward. Good luck!

When the schedule is updated it will be here:

Agree to keep checking the schedule. Usually there are a few each semester.
Also, I don't know how common it is, but 2 years ago my daughter wanted to do the equivalent of a Cadet for a Day but wasn't able to make any of the times. She had already visited for the day the previous year and had completed AIM, but she wanted a chance to see what a regular day in the life of a cadet was like. She reached out to the coach for her sport and arranged her own overnight/shadow visit separate from the normal times. It did not include any of the normal admissions briefs, but she had already had those so that wasn't the important part.

Did any appointments go out this week and if not, will they start going out again next week?

Not that anyone posted to this site. Hoping more appointments go out soon. December 23rd is only two weeks away, but right now it feels like an eternity.
Indeed it does!
Thank goodness for upcoming finals week for my DD.

Does anyone know how many EA applicants typically get moved to RA each year?

Does it help your application if you have already been medically qualified? I am assuming DodMERB sends that information directly to USCGA. Or is that something you should email your AO?

I don't believe it influences the decision. There are many applicants who receive conditional appointments wither because they have not completed the DODMERB process or because they need a waiver after receiving a DQ from DODMERB. In a normal year, about 1/3 of those offered appointments need waivers. Last year it was very high at ~60%.

You are saying that 1/3 of the class normally requires a waiver, and yet 60% of last year's appointments required a medical waiver?

Where are you seeing this information published?

I’ve personally heard those figures given by the AOs at various Admissions events both in person and online. And if you search this forum, I remember some others stating that a coach or AO had given those same stats to their applicant.

1/3 seems high and 60% is unbelievable.

Never heard anything about waiver stats at all last admissions cycle from AOs, any coach, countless events, and certainly nothing like those numbers.

This should be verified with USCGA as that 60% number does not sound right and really even the 33% number sounds a bit high.

Wonder if Mr. Mullen would have those stats? I will ask him!

Update: I asked Mr. Mullen as well in the DoDMERB forum.

USCGA Admissions Officers were the ones giving the stats. I was shocked at the 60% number also. I am also an Admissions Partner and we were given those stats in this year’s briefings/ training.
