Chinese Threat

No Korea may be a threat for Nuclear reasons, but they are all show and no substance. Check out this link. It seems to be pretty bright on the DMZ for SO Korea!

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/dprk/dprk-dark.htm.

Any country that can't afford to keep their lights on at night, can't afford to wage any military action against even their neighbor! Kim Jong iL is a nut case, but he even knows that our military would flatten his country within hours if he tried something. Pretty sure Russia and China would also use their missile defense system against him. They might not be our best buds, but they aren't about to allow a nuke go over their heads and say to the US...GEE we didn't see it on our system!

Cuba and Venezuela is more of a threat, because not only their realtionship with Russia, but the proximity to the US. To me Putin and Chavez are scarier than iL Jong or Jintao. Currently due to gas prices being so low for these industralized countries the leaders are feeling the unrest and rearing their ugly heads against us. These countries are big time oil producers. If I recall correctly wasn't oil a reason that theday of infamy occurred in 1941?

Not saying they will attack, but those 3 countries are getting very chummy!

Chavez is a JOKE. He tries to kiss a** around the world but nobody wants to associate themselves with him since he's probably going to do something stupid one day. I'm hoping he does, he needs to get taken out of power. soon. He messed up my country of origin enough already.

Chavez is a JOKE.

That "joke" just hosted the first port call of a Russian Navy task force in the Western hemisphere (outside ofCuba and the US) in almost 4 decades. His policies may be a joke, but his openess to anyone against the "imperialist pig-dog capitalist Americans" makes him a dangerous joke. Plus his control of a very valuable natural resource...

We as a country enjoy the luxury we are afforded by having an ocean on either side of us. Gives us some "breathing room" not having to share space or a border with a potential enemy. And we quite nearly went to nuclear war the last time that "breathing room" was threatened...

He hosted it? I thought he said there was an agreement with Russia that they would have a naval meeting sometime later this year, and that if any of their ships were for some reason flying near Vzla in need of refueling, then he would allow them to stop. I had no idea that they have already interacted in such way.

Anyway, I still think Chavez is like this little barking dog that wants attention to fulfill whatever sick dreams he has. I believe Russia only "likes" him because he is spending ALL of the oil revenues on Russian weapons and war-craft. If Russia ever needed an ally, I doubt they would pick this guy to go back them up.

Now, if the Russians can afford to do this on a regular basis remians another question. Their economy isn't doing too hot either, and let's face it, is still light years behind ours.

Is America ready and willing to have to spend them back into insolvency like we did in the 80s? THAT is the question we need to ask now...

I see the Chinese have told us to cease operations in the China sea area, and are now applying pressure on financial markets by insisting we back our bonds with something (collateral). Perhaps we can offer San Francisco, Nancy Pelosi included.

Russia has a "step-sister" syndrome. They believe they should be the leaders of "their world" and lost tremendous face when they stepped aside 10-15 years ago. It only made their "sydrome" even worse. But every time the price of a barrel of oil goes up $10 bucks their 'economy' gets a boost and so does their military spending. Oh, and on the streets of Moscow you'll see more black Cadillac Escalades, black Hummers and black Suburbans than you thought were ever built! (not to mention the A-8's and BIG Merc's) :shake: My fear is that we not only aren't "willing" but we are not as able to out-spend them. I think our kids are going to be gaming them for a long time. Just my 2c....

Check out the article in Foreign Policy about Russia and other "Axis of Upheaval" countries...pretty interesting.
