Is there going to be Cadet Initial Entry Training between MS-I and MS-II years this summer? I'm an MS-I and I haven't heard anything.
On that note has anybody heard of any mandatory training for the summer between MSII and MSIII? DS is really hoping to be free to do a business internship.
If your son is contracted then chances are he will be attending CIET the summer between the MS2 and MS3 year.
These new training sessions will undoubtably hamper a lot on internships over that summer. That summer between the sophomore and junior year has always been popular for internships and before now was the only real time cadets could secure an internship. Many cadets would forego a summer training like Airborne or Air Assault to take advantage of an internship. With CIET not being voluntary it will now pose a conflict.
The cadets that will feel it the most are those that are planning on going Reserve/NG and are looking at civilian employment after college, these internships can be very valuable toward that goal. Losing this opportunity could set these students back a bit in the hunt for post graduation employment. I'm not sure Cadet Command really thought this aspect through, hopefully they will come up with some solution for these cadets in the future.
If CIET is the summer between MSII and MSIII any idea what will be mandatory (if anything) for the summer between MSIII and MSIV?

Yes, that will be the new LDAC, I believe the new name is CLC. This training will be between the MS3 and MS4 year. There could also be add on training such as CTLT.
What I find interesting is Cadet Command plans to nearly double the number of ROTC cadets heading to Fort Knox over the summer. It seems they have a big enough challenge handling just one group (LDAC).
Looking at it from an outsiders perspective, I would think if saving money was a priority, CULP would be the first thing to go.On a different note, I'm really surprised that CC has the budget to handle the extra training sessions, considering the Army seems to be watching every penny right now.
