ALO responded that he doesn't know, but feels it is 500 total. He doesn't think 400+500=900 because of the reduced class size this year.

If you have something else please link it. Nowhere on that site did I see it say anything about release dates and amounts.

Traditionally, this is the time that RD's at the AFA get very silent. I would be shocked that they announce the amount going out this week. They play it close to the vest.

Reason why is very simple.

I can bet my life that at least 3 of you have at sometime during this process contacted the AFA RD directly, or at least had your ALO contact them. FWIW there are probably about 400-500 ALOs. I believe there are only 9 AFA RDs...that's a lot of phone calls/emails to return.

To publicly announce that today 500 are going out over a site like FB would mean their phones are ringing off the wall and their email system would be bombarded.

I know you all want the answer. You all want to move on with your life. I am just getting a sense here that things are getting misconstrued.

It would be incredibly strange to publicly announce that number. Yet, than again they have new leadership and this might be their command approach.

Honestly, I would hate to be an AFA RD today regardless if this is true or not.

JIC...if you look on your portal it gives you the email and phone number for your RD....that is why I said if this is true, I would hate to be them today. AT least it use to give the RD phone number.

Coughing up a furball. Cough cough. I think we will all be pleasantly surprised. Even with reduced class size, I still don't think 600-700 could have been already attributed to LOA nominees, Presidential nominees, etc. Because, we have always heard how rare those LOA's are in the fall. I am the eternal optimist. BTW, apparently this thread is cheering up the folks on the mailbox stalkers for USNA. Welcome!!!!
 
Update on Facebook

DH just posted a question on the Facebook page and got an answer.

The 400+ appointment offers went out of their office on Tuesday and are being mailed out today.

That should help clarify the numbers.
 
RD=Regional Director.

For example every candidate is sorted out into regions and by last name. A candidate from NC that has a last name beginning with T will not have the same RD as the candidate from CA with A.

At least for class 2012, they had 3 regions, and 3 RDs in each region.

The amount of LOA's usually are 150-200 for the AFA, they are incredibly stingy compared to other SA's regarding LOA. Presidential can not top past 100 charges. What people tend to forget is statistically about 1/3 use Prin. nom. That could = @175 more.

Add those 3 together and you hit @375, close to that 400. .

I wonder the same thing. We live an hour north of USAFA and I would have thought that we would have received the BFE within one day.

This is a different facebook page than PIMA mentioned. PIMA, the one you have is for the USAFA facebook in general. Admissions has their own FB page with lots of info posted via the Admissions Office. Look for the post on Tuesday, March 22nd. If you read the comments under it, they also state rolling Boards will meet through May.

This was on the USAFA ADMISSIONS Facebook page. It was posted at 1:04 pm on Tuesday, March 22nd. (I have not seen another posting after this regarding BFE's. ) ****UPDATE**** 400 Appointments just went out the door to be mailed out so keep an eye out at your mailbox. If you follow that thread you will find the following answer from the Academy:

Then add the prep school and Falcons which account for another 300ish. 200 Prep school and 100 Falcon Scholars, so that would take you to 700ish. S0 it seems that the 400-500 might be realistic especially if they are focusing staying close to the 1150 initially. Seems like it is going to be a long April and May. :thumbdown: Keep the faith although it is a tough year..... Stalk away! Cant express enough plan B as manay others have posted before.
 
MattsMom, that would explain all the empty mailboxes (See MattsMom's post). Batch of BFE's went out the Admissions door Tuesday afternoon, and are getting mailed today, Friday. I guess we are all just used to normal house mailing. You walk out the door, put it in the box the same day. Presto magic. Whew.......
 
Karek, prep and foundation do not go into the equation re:AFA apptmts numbers of 1150. 1150 is for AFA 15.

They do go into the number re: letters sent.

TW and others this is why you see a 7 day stretch regarding apptmt dates on the appointment thread. It is a fine tuned system.

I had to laugh when I read the post on the wall about contacts at BCT and the response was "we would advise you to bring glasses":lolatyou:

I guess they didn't want to say you will get issued BCGs if you don't.:jaw:

"I wear contact, I understand I will live in the field for a few weeks, and will need RE-NUE plus extra time to get ready for my contacts, and G forbid I lose a contact in the field, but heck can I wear them at BCT instead of glasses?"

Sorry, but I am not criticizing the candidate, I am criticizing the AFA.

Their answer should be, sure you can, but the fact is nobody will stop training other cadets while you search for your contact that popped out, you need to take that into account. Fall out and that is not going to be fun. Life could have changed at the AFA since 08, but back at that time you can show up wearing contacts for I-day however at BCT you will be wearing BCGs. You will get medically cleared on I DAY.

This was to me sugar coating reality if they still do BCGs.

AFAD world would be even harder in their response.

hello mailbox stalkers

Joining the mail box stalking today, catching up on everyones news...cleaning, appletinis etc. Thanks Pima and Mattsmom for the upadated news of BFE mailout and info-etc. I am off today from work and likewise others my mind has not been at work but anxiously waiting the USAFA BFE it is getting so close. #2 DS has a great plan b, that should make me relax alittle:smile:. I have been reading the threads to see if the letters are out there to gauge the possible of us hearing anynews. Being up here in AK mail takes awhile so hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday will bring us some news. Have great weekend everyone!
 
Where are you at in AK I am visiting my Aunt in Ninilchik!:thumb: I am heading back to OR on the red eye Saturday morning.
