Class of 2015 - Mailbox Stalkers Club

Thanks FalconFamily, No one from Washington is hearing anything, and our Counselors aren't saying anything. There is alot of anxiety up here in Washington State, there are no BFE's and no TWE's. We congratulate everyone who has recieved a BFE, but you have to understand we are almost ready to pop (otter style)!

Same here in NY not many people have heard anything and my counselor, ALO, and MOC don't know a thing. I figured they might know something but nope.

usafa84 - everyone is blue at my house tonight too. DS got the "qualified but no vacancy" letter today. Even though we tried to be realistic and be prepared, it's hard to not hold out some hope until you see the TWE. Best wishes for a BFE!

I am sorry! Was there two years ago with my son. It is breaking my heart to watch my daughter. She is a fiesty and I am sure in a day or two she will bounce back. She just had to move her junior year in High School and I don't think it helps that she is missing her old friends. Who would understand more than her new schools does. Hugs to your family!

Dear dgpete,

No worries, I am not offended by any means! I'm glad to see fellow Americans striving for greatness (everyone counts when there's only 310 million of us)! However, I should let you and your son know that my family and I have carefully considered your son's plight, and we've unanimously decided that he should accept the USNA appointment when it arrives.

Hi there!
Just wanted to report that no envelope of any sort has arrived in VA....even though we are quite sure that the TWE is on the way. Kind of prolongs the certainty and the angst of having something in writing. Good luck to all of you, my dear Stalker Friends Club!

@ otterpop yah I called my congressman and they said that the Air Force Academy hasn't sent them anything... kind of strange huh?

SMNE...no portal change, no call from MOC's who I have a nom. from...did call and leave a message for my USAFA counselor, hope to get a call back.

Hope everyone waiting gets good news today! My son will be receiving the QNV letter (mailed last Tues) but we have not received it yet (emailed counselor-that is how he found out).

For those who got the same letter, and have a "feeling really blue" house, I feel your pain. However, after one of our lowest days in a long time, I was shocked to see how fast a kid can bounce back. You will be amazed how resilient your child is. We are reapplying (it counts as a plus, folks!), going to a good college with ROTC, and keeping in mind Prep and Falcon group will be decided on the LAST week of April (per counselor), don't know if letters go out last week of April or right after. In meantime, I will get on board on getting excited for Plan B for my son's sake. Plan B would be a dream for most kids, but you know how our service academy hopefuls feel! USAFA or bust!!! Hang in there. It ain't over till the fat lady sings, and I "ain't" singing.

Son spoke to AFA counselor yesterday who told him his letter was mailed Tuesday so we expect to get it today. Unless he gets a Falcon, Plan B is in place for ROTC at VA Tech Corps of Cadets to study mechanical engineering.

He has his eye firmly on the real prize - commission as a 2Lt in the world's greatest Air Force. Best wishes and good luck to all.

Man, VT is getting a lot of posters. Maybe you all should start a VT thread on ROTC, because I believe you are the 4th I know of going to VT. VT sticks in my mind because I am a Hokie Mom, although not a ROTC Hokie Mom, our AFROTC cadet goes to another ACC school.

Pima, I've read your posts over the last 18 months or so I've been hanging around here and you have provided a lot of valuable information, especially to those folks who have no military background. Regards.

Here is wishing all the stalkers still left a great day. The end of March brings closure to many, one way or the other, and continuing angst to the rest. We have been talking the "what ifs" back and forth the last few days, and I do think it's more personal for the parents because I KNOW what an awesome kid I have - I hope the AFA realizes it as well. Although I do realize that there are many thousands of parents who feel exactly the same way... so que sera sera. Go Air Force!!

Quick Stats
2292 qualified applicants
3400 non-qualified applicants (mailed last week)
925 QNV (mailed this week)
1367 total offers (some mailed last week)

I will assume those who haven't heard by yesterday (unless mail is really, really slow) you are getting the QNV letter.

We're keeping our fingers crossed for DD that the mail is really, really, really, really slow!!

1367 offers (mailed last week)
Wow!!!
When added to all the LOA and Principal Nom offers from the previous months this number seems VERY high. Based on previous years stats you would think the USAFA would make this number of TOTAL offers to yield a class of 1150. Why did I think they mailed out 400-500 appointment offers last week?

Hi USAFA84! Where did you get stats, just curious? 1367 offers is high if class size around 1150. I can vouch that mail slow in our area. Even though knowing son is getting the QNV letter, we have not gotten it yet. First I was pouncing on mailbox, now I just shake my fist at it while driving by. (Just kidding, I DO get excited when mail comes). And for the people who have received NOTHING yet in the mail, plus no definitive info one way or other from MOC, ALO or counselor, I would think you should keep hope bright. Hope its a good day shore to shore today!

Aglages, USAFA Admissions office Facebook post stated they mailed 400 Appointments out last week (Friday). First they said they went out the door on Tuesday, but then they stated they went into mail on Friday. So that's why you had the same number in your mind as we did.

I have to agree 1367 offers mailed last week, compared to those with offers in hand would seem incredibly high if they want to be in the 1150-1200 marker.

Typically about 300 have apptmts in hand by March thus, that would put them back at the 1650 number, darn close to the traditional number.

I am guessing what was meant to be said 1367 offers have now officially gone out the door, including the LOA's and early apptmts. Not 1367 last week.
