Class of 2015 - Mailbox Stalkers Club

Hi Stalkers! Just checking back in to congratulate all who stalking ended on a happy note! And for those whose did not end as well, as has been stated so eloquently before on this thread, great things are in store for all of you. Make your plan and execute flawlessly! I have now rejoined the senior class of 2011 parents. They (DS's friends parents and mine!) have been busy planning senior banquets, post-prom parties, etc. etc. and I have been (VERY unusual for me) a bit disconnected (what with stalking and all!). So we have rejoined the High School Senior world as opposed to the "Where will I be in the Fall of 2011" world. It's nice to be able to enjoy the rest of senior year and to have a plan. I'm sure many or all of you parents have been in a similiar place. If not, please don't tell me! I don't want to know! :)

Good luck to all of those who are still waiting on BFE's or scholarships. I hope you will join TWA's Reapplying thread if that is what you plan to do if your BFE does not arrive.
 
Still waiting

Well, we are still waiting to hear also. DS and I haven't the heart to call AFA and find out. We'll just keep waiting. He got the TWE from USNA and has gotten reboarded twice by the AFROTC. He has a solid backup plan, but he would really like Plan A or scholarship Plan B to pan out. So....we will just keep waiting. It sounds like others are in the same situation. Pray for us!

Still no news on DS. AFA office stated that they were reviewing his record closely, fighting hard for his admitance but that he had a single subject ACT score that was lower than they wanted to see.
 
bugsy, Fingers are crossed for a positive outcome for your DS!! Do you mind if I ask if the single subject score is one that you had worried may be low? Was it within the "average" of the candidate profile?

Everything else academic and other is superb to include CFA, EC, leadership, ALO review.

We visit SA plan B on Monday, I hope the potential gov shutdown doesnt kill that deal as well.

anyone is waiting for appointment here? I am sorry, I m newcomer here...
my son is still waiting for answer from AFA. anyone knows if they still sending appoinment this week ?

Bugsy, that was DS's score last year on CR--all others over 30. It might be what kept him from a direct USAFA appointment, but he did rcv a Falcon Scholarship offer so don't lose hope :thumb:

Antfeb : Welcome! At this point it does not appear that there are to be any mass mailings. It is very much a case by case matter for candidates who are still waiting on news of their appointments. You might consider calling the USAFA Admissions counselor at this point for an update. Good Luck.
 
We try to do that Last week, but it seems that counselor do not really check it out.
my son contact his ALO and He said that his application has not been evaluated yet.
Do you think it is ok to call his ALO again later end of this week ? or We just wait.

one more thing, my son has private pilot license and still continue his instrument rating at the moment, is it an important thing for the academy ?

I can say this much, our DS received the qualified but no vacancy letter last week. It says in the last paragraph, "While the selection process is essentially complete, we will notify you immediately if you are chosen to fill a vacancy because another candidate declined an appointment." There are many sad and disappointed people on this forum right now.:frown:

Mattsmom : I completely understand...For folks like Antfeb and others on the bubble, it might be a good time to call and get a heads up...I'm sure the waiting is wearing on them.

I'm going to take a positive spin on this: they had to get this decided in order to be able to move on to Falcon Scholarship and Prep School offers.
