After many months of stalking, anxiety, and lots of praying my DS got a phone call yesterday from MOC-BFE is on its way! We (DS, DH, and me) are in FL on Spring Break and were out for lunch when the call came-lots of cheering and many tears of joy shed. Total strangers were clapping and congratulating DS...he couldn't speak for a while.

What a wonderful supportive group this thread/forum has been for me while I supported my son through his appointment process. I don't post much but log on many times a day to find strength through others in same the situation. I have laughed and cried, felt the exhilaration and desperation of others and been privileged to read about the lives of some amazing young men and women.

What part of Georgia? My DS has already accepted his appointment.

We are in the Alpharetta area. How about you? Have you joined the parents club? I'll have to look for that paperwork when I get home!

SMNE - With the shutdown looming, I couldn't stand it any longer and called the school. Appointed on the 1st. BFE may be lost in the mail. Sure didn't guess that would be the answer! His portal is still Candidate Complete, no phone calls. Bet there are more appointments still out there!
 
Overall the first week of April - not bad!

As I had hoped there are still appointments being made out there. Arewethereyet and Annie3 are proof positive. There is the next wave of QNV's that should be hitting early next week - that could be a bit tough on the stalkers - but there might well be more BFE's mixed in. Goodluck Stalkers and have a great weekend! (Really miss Vamom and Tail Wind Angel - hope things are going well with them).
 
We continue the wait. Another 200 TWE's sounds a little daunting, but it is good to hear about a few more BFE's. Wouldn't it be nice if they could say, "we sent out 100 more BFE's". That could make me a little more optimistic. DS spent a lot of time and energy getting SA apps and ACT tests set, that he came a little late the to ROTC party. He didn't go to the first boards until the beginning of this year (although I am not sure if he even got looked at then). He has gotten reboarded twice, so the waiting continues. If he doesn't get accepted to the AFA or AFROTC, he will join ROTC at his Plan B with or without a scholarship. His goal is to be an officer and serve his country. I think for him, he just wants to feel as though his country wants him, too. Strange, I know, but rejection is hard at 17/18. I think one of the nicest things I have learned through this whole process and from these boards is.....there are alot of amazing kids out there. The news seems to focus on all the bad, but look at the accomplishments of all these young people. It truly gives me faith in our future. I know the parents of these kids are very proud of them, but I would also like to add that I am also grateful for all the wonderful parents. You have done a remarkable job, too!!!! Best wishes to all as we head into the final stretch.

Athens area. and yes, we filled at the parents club request, and a parents group through yahoo... usaf2015parents is the group name, I think.
 
It's Official

It's official, the TWE came in the mail today. It was good news, in a way, though. It stated that DS was qualified but no vacancy. I tried to boost him up by telling his about all the great young men and women I had heard about on this thread who also got the same letter.

Yes, it's tough. To know that there are 1300 of these fine young men and women that are getting the letter that they are qualified.... but there isn't a spot for them. I've known for a week now that my DS received that letter and I can honestly say it isn't getting much easier to deal with. He has gone on to Plan B now and seems to be ok with it. Don't know if he will reapply or not, he says he likes the other school. We will give it a little time and see how he feels after graduation. These kids can't start their new application until July anyway. I imagine the Academy does that just in case there are any late (very late) appointments. Hang in there, this is a tough situation.
 
I know it is hard. Even the second go around, it doesn't get any easier. The good news is that it is nice to have choices from all the plan Bs. As my daughter is narrowing her decision down, she received a phone call from the dean of one school. He wanted to know why she turned down the scholarship and what could they do to get her there? WHAT!?!? Caught us off guard to say the least. After this experience, it was nice to be wanted.:thumb:

But I called in like two weeks ago and they said i was QNV.
I didn't get a BFE or TWE though....and definitely no call from my MOC or my ALO

Does this mean I'm in???
 
I am THRILLED to hear about Arewethereyet and Annie3 BFE's!!!! Guiseppe and HMX-hang in there! I did not go anywhere, just got super busy at work/home and threw a couple of naps in there too.

Yes, I do believe the portal (sounds like a Magic Time Machine!) does not open for reappliers until July to allow the full process to be completed (TWE, late appointment offers etc).

For the reappliers, the 2nd time doing the paperwork should be a snap and not so daunting. Smiles...

Sounds like you might want to put your stalking clothes back on. Someone might have declined or another opening appeared. To be sure call your counselor! Now you can have a good week end!

Cryo!!! This means you are in!!! Call the USAFA counselor-this means the BFE is coming!!
 
CRYOS- THANK YOU! I just found out yesterday that ROTC couldn't give me a waiver and I thought I was working at shoprite next year but I checked the forums and so your !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::
