Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

I had a type 7. and a NROTC one and AROTC one, all full rides. (type 2 is just a converted type 7 fyi) And i feel that if your son got a type 1 he should be good. Just wait and see. I know it sucks but nothing else you can do and you gotta admit that free tuition and a commission is still a great backup. Best of luck!

Just wondering, what do you mean full ride? I also received a type 7 and I thought that it only covered $18k. Or are you talking about in state schools?

Oh well i was going to use it at UMD-my state school cause its great for engineering and has the best AFROTC large detachment in the nation(which actually doesnt matter) but yes your right it caps at 18000

Everyone needs to chill out. Being a military brat my whole life there is only one constant in the military and thats things will happen when they happen. Everyone is throwing out info that no one has backed up with any proof other than someone told me this or that, and saying my ALO said, when they are very limited on what they know as well. Your never going to be able to figure out the system so just chill out and wait. you will get your answer eventually. In the mean time devote your efforts to getting ready for plan B and not on trying to out guess USAFA.

I apologize if what I said was seen as me "freaking out" or was taken in the wrong way. It's just an opinion as well as what I was told. I wasn't freaking out in any way, I was just saying what I believe to be true since we are all getting anxious again, and we always hope for some news to come earlier than it usually does, ha! I just don't want others to agonize if news doesn't end up coming this week, simply trying to help out with some info that was gathered from an ALO (we are all trying to give what information we have, and that's all I was doing. I'm a little offended, because I was just trying to help out and contribute what I know), who sounded like he had a good idea of what was going on. I'm sorry if it ends up being incorrect, and again, I only meant the best for everyone here. Hope you guys understand.

hahhah no i want talking about you at least not specifically its just a trend I noticed. I know you were trying to help I'm just saying the only thing to do is wait and fill your time with better things. Wasnt targeting you sorry.

Haha okay, and I agree there's been a trend. With it being spring break, I think we all have way too much time to think about this/stalk. The only thing is I'm also still waiting on a possible plan B (U of M) but should be finding out about that soon too, thank goodness!

Also, here's a link to a song I listen to when I start to get anxious about USAFA:
http://prostopleer.com/#/tracks/5124894lGON

Sleeping at Last- Hit or Miss Lyrics:

hurry, hurry up and wait
is how the waiting game is played.
a thousand moving parts keep score
inside the watch we can't ignore.

so let's hurry, let's hurry up and wait.

much too tired to try,
much too stubborn to quit,
on an island in between
the coasts of hit or miss.
are we settlers or are we natives of this land?
only time will tell
on which pedestal we were meant to stand.

so let's hurry, let's hurry up and wait.
so let's hurry, let's hurry, hurry up and wait.

every cloud above's full of splattered paint,
every seed below lies patiently in wait.
but a watched kettle never boils,
a watched tree never grows.
may we have our tea in the forest,
may we reap all that we sow.

so let's hurry, so let's hurry, hurry up, hurry up and wait.
so let's hurry, hurry up, hurry up, hurry up and wait.

Here's a video I love to watch when I'm anxious. I usually end up more anxious at the end of the video than when I started, but it definitely helps motivate me to keep on keepin' on.

The female cadet who speaks at the beginning of the video is from my hometown. We went to rival highschools/JROTC units. :)

LFry, you have no idea how many times i've seen that video! Its soo great!
Definitely agree! I used to watch the video once a day when I started this whole process to help reaffirm it was what I wanted.

That's awesome! Have you seen this video in the past?

Yes. I've watched pretty much all the USAFA videos. Everything from the spirit videos to Academy Robot Chicken to all of the BCT/Recognition/I-Day videos. They're all equally informational (and exciting!!!). :shake:

Me too... I think that USNA has more videos than USAFA, but I've still seen them all! Haha.. oh, this obsession....

Emailed my USAFA counselor today to make an edit to my file. She told me that I should know within a week or so if I'll be getting an appointment or not.

Breathing a little easier...guess I'm still in the running for now. :)

If nothing else, making an addition to my application will prevent future regrets. I didn't want to be kicking myself for the rest of my life.

You can still make edits?

Just had a 40 minute phone call with my ALO. From what he understood was that people who have received appointments have until April 15th to accept/decline their appointments on their online portal. If they do not respond, they simply lose it to somebody else. The reason some people have not received TWE's yet or a BFE during the first round of appointments is because admissions is slowly sending out their national pool appointments so that they don't exceed their 1,040 class size quota for 2016. No need to stalk your portal daily because this means that you won't likely see an update until after the 15th if you do receive one from the national pool. Like many have said before, no news is good news, but I think it might be time to start pursuing your plan B into the Air Force. Good luck and stay hopeful! :thumb:
