Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

I have an old Army friend who's son received appointment offers from all three academies. He is leaning toward West Point. The AFA gave him until May 1 to decide. Don't know if that helps or not.

It is my understanding that the portal does not change when they send out a TWE. You just get the TWE in the mail. There is always a tiny chance that an offer to Prep would follow a TWE, and there are also Falcon Scholarships, if you qualify.

Wow he must be a great candidate. I started the process for all 3 but only received a nom to the AFA which was my first choice. I think what we can get from the May 1st date that u provided is that they are going to give offers by April 15th(if that date is correct) then everyone will have 2 weeks to decide then those who are waitlisted will be given offers according to how many decide to attend on the May 1st deadline.
 
We are very thankful to still have a chance. Hope we all have good news next week!

Thanks for letting me know. I don't know if the air force academy is similar to the naval academy as far as how they admit cadets, but for the navy(from what i was told by a fellow classmate who received a QNV from the naval academy) that they go in cuts, so if u haven't heard anything yet, that means u made it to the final cut. I'm hoping the same is true for the Air Force. Cause after not getting an AFROTC scholarship I was seriously doubting my chances, but after reading the forums a little more I have become increasingly hopeful!

This waiting is awful! Just a nauseous feeling. Sorry for anyone going through it. Thankful we are not alone and have others and this site for info! Although there is much confusion, we will all get through it soon.

I was a stalker from 2015. I do not remember portals changing with a QNV letter. All the candidates' portals read "Candidate" even when they receive an Appointment. Status changes from "Complete" to "Appointment Offered". They did not change the portals last year with QNV letters and they did not send out "waitlist" letters. They did call a few people with QNV letters back with Appointments, but there was no waitlist like this year.

Seems like this year is very different. The AFA needs to be very careful and they have a restricted time frame. I doubt if they will change the way they handle TWEs however, meaning I doubt if they will change the portals when they send out TWEs.
 
Is the wait list the same as a QNV letter? I don't remember the actual term "wait list" being used before.

The wait list is, in essence, a "qualified no vacancy but if we get one you're really close in line and may get an appointment" notification.
 
still appointments available

My DS is also sitting on multiple appointments, he just cant decide. One day he is leaning towards one and then the next day the other. I know of several other applicants in the same position. They have been given until 5/1 to make a decision but DS knows there are candidates out there anxiously waiting and he is planning on making a decision this weekend. The Air Force Academy called him last weekend to find out what his plans are, it seemed to me they were trying to determine how many positions they had filled. Hang in there a while longer.
