I got a TWE today after coming home from track. I'm very disappointed, but the hardest part for me now is telling everyone who has been so supportive throughout the entire process. I know that no one thinks any less of me for not getting in, but it is hard to not have much to show after so much time and effort. I'm glad that I had a solid plan B and am considering reapplying for next year. Big bummer but as someone mentioned earlier, resilience is key!

The TWE arrived for my son today as well. It was not unexpected. He has some great options as many of the fine applicants on here do. He was offered an AROTC and AFROTC scholarship (TAMU) as well as a USCGA Scholar (prep) appointment. He had already decided to go the USCGA route but was waiting to see if he would feel differently with an AFA appointment in hand. His decision is made and he doesn't plan on looking back, only forward to a great future in the Coast Guard.

I have a good friend who is a Senior Chief in the CG. He loves it. And think about this, there are NO BAD ASSIGNMENTS! He's assigned at Port Angeles, WA, after being on the Texas Coast for several years. I was looking forward to making fun of him, but he loves backpacking, and the winter is far milder than I thought. I have another friend in the CG stationed in Alaska, and he loves his assignment too.
 
Thanks. He should do well ( I hope!). He is really excited about the USCGA opportunity.

I will continue to hang around here as I have a younger son that has similar interests and need you guys to continue educating us.

Same here, still nothing. Sorry to hear about the TWEs guys, I know you're (or your kids are) all great candidates and I hope we can all keep in touch. Expecting a TWE soon, but I've already come to terms with it and hope to see you all next summer for BCT. Looking forward to the opportunity to improve and give it another shot next year. Thanks to all on this thread for your support as well as just having someone there to talk to who understands the frustration of waiting. :smile:
