It takes three days for smail to reach Kansas from Colorado, and I live in the biggest city in Kansas, so it isn't a rural area thing.

I love cross country too. Great friends to be made, and great times to be had, all while running non stop every day. :thumb:

yah there are a ton of people at Service Academies who do XC and track. But that is probably because a lot of smart people run. haha

I ran the 800m and the occasional mile, but it's been a few years since high school. My times aren't nearly what they used to be.

Officially received my TWE Today. I was hoping for good news but had bad news. I had 34ACT 3.8 unweighted gpa with 7 AP classes, solo captain of 100 + ski team for 2 years, promoted to coach (youngest), Hundreds of hours of volunteer work, diversity groups, etc. I thought I had good stats but for everyone out there who is asking "what are my chances," NO ONE KNOWS. It is up to you to get do best in everything you can. USAFA does not make simple decisions, and if they take some over others that is the way it is. USAFAs class of 2016 will have fine officers and will help contribute to the world's best Air Force.

As for me, I will continue to reach my goal through ROTC. I may or may not reapply, although I was fortunate enough to receive a Type 1 AFROTC Scholarship. It is a very hard day for me as this has been my dream for so long and no other schools seem appealing but I realize I have many other great options to choose from! I hope everyone here can achieve their dreams, one way or the other. Thanks for all the support on this forum! you guys have been a blessing!

I was very surprised to see all the TWEs today. There are some incredible young Americans on this forum. I have lost count but how many still have no word or sit on the wait list?

Our daughter is still waiting patiently in Wisconsin (and her parents are too!). I am so impressed with the attitudes of the young people on this thread! It restores my faith in young people, the future of our military is in great hands!

LFry94,
You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. If you are not a wrestler, you should be because you have the heart and desire of what it takes to be a national champion in this great country. My kid too got the dreaded “TWE” today and he too took the news with great humbleness. Like wrestling champions do, he shook the hand of the opponent that just beat him, exited from the arena at full speed, cried his eyes out in the tunnel then came back 20 minutes later inside and said “Pop, I’m taking the AF ROTC offer and I’m not looking back.” I just about fell out of my chair. It was a punch in the mouth and he got knocked down, but he got back up, wiped off the blood from his lips, then moved forward with his plan of commissioning as an Air Force officer. He’s gonna rebound just like you no matter what happens after this point. You are a champion and I’ve enjoyed reading your posts and love your motivation.

My kid’s stats;
3.7 GPA
JROTC commendation medal for valor
JROTC battalion XO
100 + hrs volunteer service
4x nominations
3x NHS
4x JROTC member
3x national qualifier (wrestling)
2x greco-roman state champion (wrestling)
1x freestyle state champion (wrestling)
2x HS state qualifier (wrestling)
1x HS state medalist (wrestling)
2x HS varsity captain (wrestling)
4x HS varsity (wrestling)
CFA maxed

Flieger83,
Thank you sir for keeping it real. Your words were true to the “T.” If the US Air Force Academy has just one person that declines this year’s appointment offers, please give it to LFry94. He’s earned it. He truly understands the meaning of adversity and I know he can back it up.

YorkieMom75,
I was hoping to save my one and only post on this message board with “good news” that my kid was gonna be an AFA Falcon but it wasn’t meant to be. “2016USAFA” said some inappropriate things to you and as others have stated, his true character has come out and it appears he is not only non-AFA material but maybe should rethink our military way of life.

Congrats to the AFA class of 2016, you’ve earned it !

Respectfully,
This ole Army guy.

Nothing

Still waiting in NH. Hoping for some good news, but prepared for TWE.

I don't know what to say... With all respect, I prayed every day that God would give the appointments to those who A. deserve it the most, and B. those who will fill the roles the AF needs the best. I trust that's exactly what he did. Seeing as I have ~3.75GPA and 27ACT, I could always use the extra preparation that a year (or two) of college will give me. Thanks for your kind words. I hope I get to meet your son in the AF some day.

WOW

WOW what a day. I am just now catching up on the latest from part of yesterday and all of today. What we have all experienced here together has been stressful and there are so many more still waiting. The outstanding display of character by all, especially the Class of 2016 hopefuls is a demonstration that there are many great and outstanding citizens in this Great Country of ours.

On occasion you will run into that one individual that is not capable of handling this kind stress and the bad news that can be an outcome of these kind of stressful situations. Yorkiemom nor anyone else deserves the kind of verbal abuse that took place today because of bad news. Imagine what BCT would have been like for the one bad individual that was not capable of controlling their emotions. Enough about the bad person that has been banned.

To all those that received the dreaded TWE you all have demonstrated that you have the can do spirit and as a result of that can do spirit you will overcome. The handling of this kind of news can be heart breaking, but what I have read today you have all demonstrated a basic understanding of how to deal with change (your change of plans in this case) "Adapt and Overcome".

Speaking of change I recommend a great read if you have not already done so, "Who Moved My Cheese". I had both of my children read it the summer before they started high school and they have picked it again and again since for a quick read.

There are many paths to chasing a dream and don't any of you give up on those dreams. Don't put yourself down the road in the future wondering..."what if?". Based on the postings by all the beautiful people in this forum there are many prayers going out for all of you.

WA state still gets mail

Do any of the most recent TWE recipients live as far west as Washington? I'm pretty sure mail from Colorado only takes two days to get here, but...

Received TWE in Richland, WA today. DD is quietly brooding.

I have NO doubt that many stellar candidates are left waiting this year. You cannot help the year you were born and the past trajectory that put you before this small class size (my class appointed 1500+ in 1979, so the 2016 class size impact is massive in this decision being beyond your control). You have great qualities, have shown dedication to an uncertain process, and are still the master of your own ship.

Chin up, there are beckoning skies ahead.

John

Thank you. I'm guessing Yakima and Richland receive mail from Colorado at about the same time. Maybe I made it through this wave of cuts? Only one way to find out.

Didn't get an appointment :(
Time to prepare for next year!
Would they say in their letter if you were on some sort of waiting list?

Yes, in fact, I doubt you'd receive the TWE if you were waitlisted. It probably would have just updated in your portal. Hope AFROTC goes well for you! Looking forward to stalking with you next year if you reapply.

My DS also attended NWP this fall.

No, Falcons from this year have not yet received their USAFA appointments for the class of 2016. Expected date to hear is after April 25.
Thanks for the follow up reply. Wow -- very end of April...not much room to maneuver if a plan B is needed. Good luck to your son!
