Class of 2018 Female, happy to answer questions

Hi Red,
I am a bit confused on applying to the Air Force Academy. I went to the summer seminar in June and I loved it! I got an admission checklist to apply. I did an online application and submitted about a month ago. Apparently I was supposed to receive a USAFA Candidate Kit, but I haven't... I am a bit scared and confused. I reread the checklist and it said, "Request USAFA Application." I thought that meant the online application but I am not sure... So the question is, what is "Request USAFA Application," referring to? Thank you!

Do all air force students have a burning desire to fly? Is the air force a poor decision if you are interested in other career options the air force offers, but not particularly interested in flying?

I'm here now with the furthest desire to fly. About half of the students here want to fly and the other half have other aspirations but they all share the common goal of wanting to serve in the air force. There are so many options other than flying. I aspire to be a clinical psychologist.

Lorie, this is probably a question that your admissions counselor or ALO can answer better than any of us cadets can. USAFA Admissions makes changes to the application process every year, it seems, and I have already discovered that the 2020 process is different than the one I went through. Additionally, I wouldn't be surprised if Red2018 had a rather different experience than I did. My point is that cadets probably aren't going to know the exact answer to your question, because we're not familiar with the particular system you are working with. In contrast, your ALO will probably be an expert, and your admissions counselor most certainly will. A quick phone call to either one will answer your question almost immediately. Good luck! :thumb:
