Class of 2020 USNA Appointment Thread

Also, I would like to think that the strength of a candidate in USNA's eyes has more impact than whether they have multiple nominations. Maybe people with multiple nomination(especially those in competitive areas) may be getting appointments earlier, because they have 2 slates to be considered on, rather than just 1.

Has anyone been appointed with a single congressional nomination and no LOA? I feel like everyone on this forum has either a double-nom or an LOA and it's kind of discouraging.
You only need one nomination. Our DS got Congressman nom only then LOA after, don't be discouraged stay positive, these are only 54+ who got appointments, USNA accepts 1,300 plus! Bulk of appointments should be coming March-April:)

What do you mean March-April! I'm barely hanging on now and my Valium is running out! DS is great with it. He has plan B-NROTC Scholarship at major university 45 min from home, plan C-SMC 3 hours away on full scholarship, plan D-state school on full scholarship and plan E-Ivy School on full scholarship! I guess that's why he's an Eagle Scout.....fully prepared! I'm the basket case:)

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE AND.....
GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY!

Could be even later than April. DS #1 waited until May 1 to get TWE IN 2013. DS #2 finished app before AUG 1 with 35 on ACT, with 3 varsity letters, team captains tons of ECAS ivluding Eagle scout and CAP, just like everyone else on this forum. Just stay positive, stay vigilant, and thank the Almighty that we have such amazing kids!

ie: the wait... Thanks for the encouragement to continue to wait, along with so many other great kids. We've heard to get used to"hurry up and wait", in the military :)

DS portal has read Complete Pending Review since early Oct. I know there are some on here that were completed earlier and read the same. Does this status mean his application hasn't even been looked at yet?

No, mine says complete pending review, and my BGO has told me it had been reviewed, but no decision has been made.

Hang in there everybody. Hopefully it won't be June, like my DS had to wait last year!!!!

Just an observation, around this time last year the numbers (from the forum) are very similar. Its just the forum so take it for what it is but with all this waiting its cool to just look at.
=====

On February 20, 2015, the Class of 2019 Appointment thread was at 46 Appointments

On February 20, 2016, (as of 3:30 PM est), the Class of 2020 Appointment thread was at 55 Appointments.

This 2016 Class of 2020 Appointment list is running 17% ahead of last years in terms of Appointments revealed.

FWIW, I personally attribute the difference in an increased number of actual Appointments listed to an increased number of new Service Academy Forum members participating now, than last year. It only took to page 4 in 2015 to get to 46 Appointments. We are on Page 10 right now to get 55 Appointments, meaning (to me) we have a lot more new and old Members hanging around posting, discussing and 'waiting' to add Appointments to the the Class of 2020 List.

Thank you for putting it in perspective. I agree... the forum membership may have increased due to increased visibility from sources such as FB or social media. Even though my DD went through the process and was selected for NASS, we were not aware of this forum until only a few months ago, and it was awareness gained from social media. Thanks again for helping to calm the waters for all of us!

DS as seen some of the "stats" of the young men and women on this forum and got somewhat disheartened at times. He comes from a very large high school where it is all but impossible to participate in more than one sport. Club participation can be limited by that as well. He looks at some of these accomplishments from others and wonders how they ever fit it all into 17 years of full-time schooling. I'm trying to keep his hopes up and the process in perspective. He has decided that the forums are not a good place for him to be lurking until he finds out whether he has received an appointment or not. This thread in particular is stress-inducing. I watch for him now and only pass on information I think will be useful and/or hopeful for him.

I have found that stress is a very good motivator for many high achievers. Everyone has stress, while certain 'stress' for one person, means nothing to another, it is how the individual handles 'the pressure' is what the Academies are looking for in a Candidate.

I think I read that these numbers are approximately 10% of the actual appointments. I know of 4 appointments to USNA on the west coast of Florida none of whom have posted here. If tha is true then there have been well over 500 appointments plus the current NAPS and Foundation kids, we might be looking at close to 800.
I'm hoping those numbers aren't accurate, still waiting in Florida with 2 nominations and "Complete Pending Review".

Maybe "stress" was the wrong word. He handles stress well, he is a competitor. If something can be done about it, he sets out to do something about it. In the case of appointments, he has done all he can do and that's it. He can't go back and join more clubs, get in another sport, save a third world country, etc (ok, just kidding on that one). So he decided to back away from the drama of it all and concentrate on the fun of the last half of senior year.

I know of two kids who have not posted their acceptances to 2020 in this forum.

DS has been at "Complete Pending Review" since 30 Jul 2015 after his physical where his MD and Ophthalmologist told him to be a pilot like he was. Application 99% completed immediately after NASS, June 2016, NOM December 15 and now the wait. There are 5 here in South Texas that have not posted on these forums. Keep positive and.....

I apologize for my two cents. I completely understand, my son is the same way, he doesn't worry about stuff he can't control.
