USNA just released the following statement on social media.

***CLASS OF 2024 UPDATE***
Due to the complexities of the Plebe Summer schedule and the timelines associated with COVID-19 testing, the Class of 2024 Oath of Office Ceremonies scheduled for Friday, July 17, have been shifted one day to the right, to Saturday, July 18, to ensure maximum participation by #USNA2024.
The event will be streamed live here on our Facebook page, as well as our YouTube page
👇
The ceremony for Companies 1-15 will begin streaming live at 4 p.m. EDT, and the ceremony for Companies 16-30 stream live at 5 p.m. EDT.

Good luck finding your Waldo!

Finally going to get out of this weird COVID limbo. ‘Bout to start the party!!

Sidenote: super bummer for those that have already ROM’ed, and are just now getting moved to a 2week isolation. I wonder if they will be doing trainings in a different way, or if they will be completely cut out of that for 2 weeks?

ROM = Restriction Of Movement ("quarantined" for 14 days to make sure they are clear of Covid-19)

Hi @justdoit19 - are you hearing of some Plebes testing positive after their second test at the end of ROM?

No I am not. And not all moved over to iso are positive covids. They are also ones that didn’t meet the screening criteria for general company ROM (ie, has contact within xxx time of a positive tested person) upon reporting. Or ones that are ROM’ing, and start to present whatever symptoms (which btw is normal to have a ‘cold’, or plebe hack, after gathering up 1,200 from around the country). There are also kids who get strep, etc. So, people aren’t just tested once and it’s all good. They are screened daily. If in iso, screened a couple times a day.

This is how I see it going forward in reality. Mitigating as much as possible, monitoring, and isolating.

My understanding is that if tested positive, they will let families know, as well as HOR department of health know.

No news is good news as far as your plebe goes! They are given their phones during iso. And also know they are really on top of all of this. Taking it very seriously, with the best health professionals involved.

This is all really a peek into August, when schools and colleges also begin their sessions. We are so very fortunate to have the ability to control so many variables, that other educational facilities cannot.

Mine will be close cropped and wearing a dixie!

Just cleared my calendar for Saturday afternoon!

.
Fleming is a variable that is challenging in any experiment to control for. I am keeping an 👁 on this one.

There’s been a slight delay in getting the final Plebe covid test results back, which is why they pushed Oath Day to Saturday. Of the tests that have come in (75%) there were zero positives 👍. I believe this does not include people who might be in isolation however. They might have to retest and join their company a few days late, or hopefully on time depending on what medical determines.

💯🙌 WTG!! That’s awesome.

Anyone see front page of WSJ? Picture of the Beast starting at West Point. Looks like they put up plastic wall and making cadets wear masks, but they are getting yelled at from day 1. I'm surprised that they started two weeks later.

Plastic wall? Wow. Can you post a link? WSJ search function is horrific and I couldn't find this picture/article.

Here you go. It's more like a barrier. I think the Firstie is demonstrating the proper way to say "Beat Navy"!! Also, college and Not college students can get a great student rate on the WSJ.
