It appears that Class of 2025 will have an approx two week initial ROM quarantine.

Can anyone who is, or who has, a class of 2024 Plebe elaborate on what their initial ROM quarantine was like prior to continuing on Plebe Summer?

For example:
Were the Plebe's in individual isolation or do they have a roommate or communication with other face-to-face warm body(ies) while in ROM?
What was a basic schedule of the day during ROM from reveille to taps?
What types of activities did they do during the ROM?
Success stories on how they mentally dealt with ROM and bided their time.
Does anyone have any insider gouge on what Plebe's might be doing to be productive during this upcoming ROM?

Things are different today than they were 10 months ago. Vaccines, different Officer in Charge of Plebe Summer, and many lessons learned from the past year. Even if there does end up being a ROM this summer I wouldn’t count on it being the same as last year’s. The uncertainty here might create some anxiety, but I think that’s expected. Plebe Summer is supposed to have some “shock and awe” in the beginning.

During some recent BGO training (just a couple days ago), Admissions said that ROM would be the first 10 days of Plebe Summer for 2025.

as @Kierkegaard stated, it's a different year than last for sure, so who knows. Be prepared to be physically fit, make sure you spend time with family and friends before you leave. Those things alone will leave you in a good physical and head space to deal with challenges as they come.

Admissions said that USNA wants new Plebes to get a COVID 19 Vaccine ONLY if they can get both shots before I day. Otherwise they can get it at the Yard. They did not address the J&J one shot vaccine.

DS is a plebe. His initial ROM was with a roommate, who after their first night together, felt sick and went into Isolation for 2 weeks. So DS was alone. He was allowed to open his door and chat with the Plebes across the hall. They did have online tasks to do when they had their computers. Be prepared for anything. He's had so many periods of ROM this year, it's hard to keep track. It ran from not leaving the room (except for the bathroom) to having normal movement except classes were online. As Kierkegaard said, it will probably look different this year.

Per the PTR I-Day for the Class of 2025 is scheduled for Tuesday, 29 June and Wednesday, 30 June 2021 culminated by the Oath of Office Ceremony to be held after Restriction of Movement (ROM) on 12 July. So, that would be 11-12 days of ROM not including I-Day or the day of the Oath of Office Ceremony. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for that info. The motto reiterated to DS is semper gumby and expect the worse and hope for the best.

ROM is going to be 10 days for the Class of 2025. However, those 10 days are intended to be training days, and not quiet as relaxed as the ROM was last summer. The OIC of the upcoming plebe summer does not want to lose any training time during ROM.

I anticipate my company doing lots of rates, google meets, room inspections, and other things during that 10 day time period.

Yes, they will have roommates to keep them company.

@Temple17 appreciate the feedback. Do you know whether the plebes get PT during that 10 days of ROM?

That'll be a great thing- good for the mind, body and soul (especially if it's part of your daily routine already)!
Yes, great indeed...alleluia! My DS only takes 1 day off a week from his rigorous workout routine 🏋🏻‍♀️
So 10 days without PT would have been pure torture...

Thanks all for the advice. This is very helpful advice for my DS who is ready to kick the tires and light the fires! He is excited to be heading to Yard even with COVID still looming. We all have to remember that all members of the Class of 2025 have had their last two years of HS interrupted--some more than others. So I believe that the Class of 2025 will firmly subscribe to semper gumby.

As mentioned by people previously, ROM will likely incorporate PT. However, it is a little unclear to me what that will look like.

During the academic year, midshipmen in ROM were allowed to PT alone or with their roommates during ROM so I imagine it will be some variation of that.

It seems a little counterproductive to the ROM for a whole company to get P.T. together.

During ROM, are plebes able to read books or study?
Last year they had online trainings to do, and books were offered and delivered by their plebe summer training staff. No idea if that will hold true for this year. Try to not overthink it. I know that's hard. The desire to know all the ins and outs and what ifs is there, but kick it to the curb.

Spend every moment with family, friends, cleaning out your room and drawers (not likely civilian clothes will fit you a year from now), doing extra chores for mom and dad. Take a sibling for ice cream. Make memories, treasure the moments you have as they disappear so quickly and will be few and far between moving forward. Those memories and relationships will get you through whatever plebe summer has to throw at you.

And remember your 'why'. A wise veteran advised our state plebes to write a letter to themselves. Their own 'why' letter. Why did you pursue this, why did you hammer out the application, follow all the advice to make yourself a solid candidate? Why are you willing to chart this course and see it through. Then, seal it, give it to mom, dad or trusted friend and ask them to mail it when you need it.
