What you say about “no shows” is so sad and I can’t help but place some of the blame on parents. I’ve experienced it a few ways recently, unrelated to the academy, and it seems that the youth today don’t realize the importance of honoring a commitment. As an example, about two months ago I was to mentor two entering high school seniors in some mathematics courses. It was to be the start of something for two hours every Saturday AM until school started in September. I was at the assigned place but neither individual showed up. No message, no phone call, nada! When I finally contacted their parents we had a short discussion and I basically said I guess they learned their 1st lesson because I would be unavailable in the future.I understand that 20+ left within the first three days. Three never showed up. I know a couple who were on the 'wait list' and never
received a call. The communication could be better between 'no shows' and Admissions. Some of those who left had no idea why they were even there. My recommendation is that any student who is considering USMMA, go on the overnight visit. This will provide an understanding of the Academy and what is expected. The result is that if then you do not wish to attend - advise Admissions to take your name out of consideration.
Adding to the rumors about how many quit: 13 football recruits quit during Indoc.I understand that 20+ left within the first three days. Three never showed up.
Thank you for sending your DS ready to excel. I am sure he will do well with such a good start.Talking to my DS last night, he must not be up to date on the rumors. He said there are a lot of great athletes in the class. Couple of D1 recruited football players. For him, it’s not hard physically, he's a very in shape kid, he said there are some Plebes in as good as shape if not better than him. I am sure there are the few that never went outside and touched some grass during their high school career. I’ll have to dig some more out of him about all of the football player rumors.

Didn't realize it was that many from Football.Adding to the rumors about how many quit: 13 football recruits quit during Indoc.
PEP. We used to call that the Donut Squad. In this day and age of the easily offended Im guessing thats gone away.Class of 2028 here. Indoc ended yesterday and most of the comments above are true. The first official PRT test is tomorrow and I anticipate that quite a few people will be put on PEP.
Those aren't KPers. Those are quitters. KPers aren't quitters. You can't quit in the middle of the ocean when your ship is in peril. You have to figure something out else you die. Both my KP kids were surprised and a bit disappointed at how easy the physicality of KP was (classes of 2013 and 2021.) It is just not that difficult to pass the PRT standard. I think what we are seeing is the same thing the military is facing with recruiting. Youth of today (over-generalizing, I know) has been coddled too much and challenged too little. They have been told they are special in order to build their self esteem, receiving praise without ever accomplishing anything praise worthy. I find it very disappointing when it is so rare to find a teenager who will even show up for a job regularly and put in a full day's work. I am an optimist by nature, but it is tough to remain that way when even Kings Pointers seem to be failing and quitting in such large numbers.
Good luck at the Zoo kid. Grind it out and get that Golden Ticket(License). Its literally gold. $$$. 4 yrs go by quick.Class of 2028 here. Indoc ended yesterday and most of the comments above are true. The first official PRT test is tomorrow and I anticipate that quite a few people will be put on PEP.
