I was 3 qualified last year with nom and didn't receive an appointment so I'm applying from college this year. I raised my math SAT score forty pts so I have a 640 reading and 680 math. I finished the semester with a C+ in chemistry and D in calculus. I'm wondering if I am still scholastically qualified. How do I find out?
 
I believe you just have to apply and they'll let you know if you are. I too am applying from college, but I was unable to take calculus due to unavailable classes, so I was put in College Algebra instead. Do you have a nom?

I'm not sure what to tell you. I was out-and-out rejected last year (nom but no 3Q or anything) and I went to a community college here. First semester I received a C (79.3, but a C on the transcript) in Chem 1 and a B in precalc. Second semester I got an A in calc 1, another C in Chem 2, and A's in composition and the rest of the courses I took (speech, etc). Based on that, I got an LOA this year.

That's my story. I don't know how it applies to you other than our chemistry grades were the same. I was told that a C here and there (even in chemistry or calculus) wouldn't sink me as long as I did well in my other classes (which was big motivation to not get a B in calc 1).

Ask your CGO. If you improve maybe you could get a mid-semester statement from your teachers and send it to USNA. Definitely ask your CGO, though. It's worth a try.

There is no "magic" answer as to whether you're academically qualified. In all honesty, a C and D in the primary plebe science/math courses clearly won't help you as much as As and Bs in those courses. However, you never know until you apply.
 
ok thanks. I'm almost finished with my app with only CFA and college transcripts to send in. I dont know if I should take these classes again or just focus on classes I want to take.
 
I would continue to take courses that will help you at USNA (i.e., calculus, chemistry, physics, etc.). There is no need to retake the courses you've already taken, given that you did pass them the first time.
