Looking for others who are back on the roller coaster this year. DD is just finishing finals, tough semester. Thought it would be nice to start a thread for all of us second/third timers to share experiences, insights, and hopefully good news as we move forward.

Yes, right back on the roller coaster with you. DS finishing up 1st semester (exams next week). He still needs to write his essay, but will have to do it when he gets home. Between NROTC and a tough engineering schedule, he literally hasn't had time. Would love to hear about others going through this process again (God help us).

Yes. Still here. Still riding the rollercoaster. Technically not a reapplicant for Navy since this is my first time applying to the naval academy but I'm a sophomore in college and have ridden the ride before with the coast guard academy this past year.

My DS is also. Finished up a 21 credit hour semester under a NROTC scholarship. Weird thing is the senators and congressman required all new LOR this year from new sources along with HS transcripts and academics. They at first sent a letter stating his CN application was incomplete until we reminded all he was a re applicant college student. He secured a CN through his NROTC but we are still waiting to hear on the other noms. Had a strong first semester but I am the one who is exhausted....emotionally. When he went off to college I was like whew we are done with the roller coaster and two weeks into it he said I am re applying....UGH. I just hope he gets it this time. His BGO said he must have missed it by a nose hair.

DS is a self-prep at MMI, 2nd time applicant. Best thing for him - Finished with 3.8 GPA in plebe year courses, Top 10% CFA score and a 20% improvement in SAT/ACT scores and has his nomination. He focused on "why" he wanted to attend the Naval Academy, surrounded himself with like-minded people, chose activities and leadership opportunities wisely and committed himself to excellence in every aspect of his day while maintaining a kind, gentle and caring spirit to serve others. Completing his BGO interview as we speak.

Regardless of the outcome, couldn't be prouder of the man he is becoming. Best wishes to all applicants and re-applicants!

Going down this road again as well. My son was wait listed last year until 23 June, a week prior to reporting for I-Day. So far...

Goods: Accepted his NROTC scholarship to a highly competitive university and did well in a tough engineering curriculum first semester. Appointed to a leadership position next semester in his NROTC unit, great LOR from his CO and member of the rifle/pistol club and a few other ECA's. Improved his CFA score from one that was already really good.

Bads: He just had a conversation with the SA liaison for our MOC and she pretty much told him they don't generally give a nomination to a re-applicant. I guess they have USNA admissions portal access and she told him that since he already has a Presidential and NROTC nomination that he really "didn't need one." I guess his path to appointment this time around will only be through Presidential or NROTC....of course he had 4 nominations last time and a lot of good that did him...:(

Others: Still just a legacy kid, who followed his old man around the Navy for a long time, he won't fill any special bucket in "shaping" the next class...no changing that...

I recognize some of your names from last year. It is nice knowing others are out there going through similar experiences. First semester is over for my DD, everything is in except for her transcripts. She is attending a state school, got a job, no NROTC but has continued in her sport. She has worked so incredibly hard, continued taking SAT's, inching the scores up, finally got a few pull ups instead of the arm hang and managed to get a principal nomination. She took a plebe like schedule but unfortunately did not get all A's, looks like there will be 2 B's on her transcript (in the biggies: calc and chem). She is also a recruited (non blue chip) athlete. I'm feeling so much more stressed this time around, this whole process is difficult to go through once, it's hard to believe that so many get back on the roller coaster!!! For us it is literally like a roller coaster, we are feeling positive one week and then down the next....... it is emotionally exhausting. My DD has never been on this forum, I pass on info. that I think will be of help.

DS is on the same boat, so to speak. Grades weren't what he was hoping so just keeping his fingers crossed that it is enough.

@NTWLF ONE, I remember your DS' waitlist status to the very end. Wishing him the best of luck!

Thank you! I am sure he will appreciate your kind words.

Last year was gut wrenching, I think this year he is resigned to his fate and knows it's a bigger long shot....

DS was wait-listed last year. Reapplying as 4/C scholarship MIDN in engineering with top marks and three noms. Not sure what else he could have done. The rest is up to the Lord.
It is indeed. Best of luck to your DS as well!

Anyone on here heard anything yet? Looks like the appointment list is growing much faster than last year or there are many more people on the forum this year. We are still hanging in there with Nom and assuming still 3Q'ed since we were waitlisted last year like most of you. The waiting isn't fun, but somehow not as grueling as last year. Just different I guess.

Waitlisted last year for the CGA, applied to both USNA and CGA this year. This is definitely a marathon, not a sprint. Good luck to all! Excited to hear good news from everyone!

Waiting again. It's made a little easier by the fact that DS is away at college and preoccupied with all his classes and activities. I don't believe he is thinking about it as much this time around. He seems more resigned to the wait this year (I am trying to feel the same way!) Hang in there everyone!

Navy92: Thanks for restarting this thread. It's comforting to know your DS' & DD's are still waiting too. DS was wait listed last year and back at it this year. He has a couple of kids in his NROTC unit reapplying. As far as we know, they're still waiting too.

Same here. He's just too busy to think about it beyond getting his NROTC nomination (which made it in just under the wire). He was reluctant to ask since they didn't know he was applying and didn't want them to think he was not dedicated to stay there if USNA didn't happen. They seemed very supportive though. I haven't heard of any college re-applicants on the forum getting an appointment yet. Good news? I don't know. February/March will be the big push. At least DS is in a place he is happy if this doesn't happen.

Easier said than done of course, but try not to stress too much here in early February as college re-applicants are historically some of the last to get reviewed to the degree that some, just some not universal, have in the past been asked for spring mid-semester grades. Also, as noted on another thread, don't read anything into the numbers of appointments posted here as they don't really correlate to what's really going on with admissions in terms of raw numbers.

Wishing you the best in your pursuit and the patience to see it through.

Still waiting, DD is not feeling hopeful....... 1st semester grades were not as high as she hoped. Last year the re-apps came in two waves, between Feb. 10-15 and the same time in March.
Maybe next week will bring some good news to us 2nd timers. Fingers crossed!!!

I'm on my second time applying. College calculus and physics is way harder that it was in high school; hopefully robotics engineering major and hard classes shows them that I'm not taking the easy road. On the lacrosse team here at my UC and got the principal nom for my district. Trained very hard for my CFA and maxed out 3 sections and did well. Really hoping for NAPS, this wait is so hard.
