Going down this road again as well. My son was wait listed last year until 23 June, a week prior to reporting for I-Day. So far...
Goods: Accepted his NROTC scholarship to a highly competitive university and did well in a tough engineering curriculum first semester. Appointed to a leadership position next semester in his NROTC unit, great LOR from his CO and member of the rifle/pistol club and a few other ECA's. Improved his CFA score from one that was already really good.
Bads: He just had a conversation with the SA liaison for our MOC and she pretty much told him they don't generally give a nomination to a re-applicant. I guess they have USNA admissions portal access and she told him that since he already has a Presidential and NROTC nomination that he really "didn't need one." I guess his path to appointment this time around will only be through Presidential or NROTC....of course he had 4 nominations last time and a lot of good that did him...
Others: Still just a legacy kid, who followed his old man around the Navy for a long time, he won't fill any special bucket in "shaping" the next class...no changing that...
