Completely denied?

So sorry to hear this. As I was responding to you my son just came downstairs and told me he got the very same letter just now. Big disappointed sigh. Onward.
Big disappointment indeed! Now on to plan B! I will be attending the University of Cincinnati on my ROTC scholarship and will be reapplying for the class of 2026! I hope your DS has similar plans.

Hey, call the Purdue Army ROTC department and talk to the Recruiter. They may find a little cash in the drawer. Just let them know you are coming and that you want to be an Army Officer and do Army ROTC. (It is another source of nomination for next year, too.)
Lean into this...Sounds like you are a fantastic candidate. Good luck. Go Army!

One Hail Mary with USNA still pending but otherwise it's a 4 year AROTC scholarship at Michigan Tech University. Good luck to you too and maybe we'll see you next year!

Your profile looks very impressive. There are 2 things that stand out as needing improvement.

ACT
Mile run

I think these 2 items on your application dented your WCS.
I contacted my RC and she confirmed that my ACT is what needed to be improved most. I had planned on retesting but couldn't with covid. I've been going to the gym 6 days a week + running to improve my cfa scores and I will try to retest my ACT over the summer.

Life is a marathon, and Purdue is fantastic. If you are in ROTC you'll get good PT. With being in college I'm not sure the ACT or SAT are as critical, but I would take both. The SAT you get to Super Score so take and take to get a top one. Mile didn't help, work that and don't let up on other stuff.

I listed Michigan Tech for an AFROTC scholarship, and they seem like a great school for it! I think that for AFROTC, at least, the first dozen or so scholarship receivers that confirm their enrollment get free room and board. Good luck to your DS/DD!

Super-scored ACT and SAT will still be critical. Whole Candidate Scoring does not change with candidates passing into college. Take the 4 cores and Army ROTC (to show that you are serious about the Army). You will need 2 additional SOEs to go along with the HS ones that will transfer to your 2026 file. Agree with the thread - get your mile run time down. Also try to stay active in at least one of your HS volunteer, community or whatever extracurriculars if time and location permit - especially if you were in a leadership role. Also do something useful this summer. Take 3 or 6 hours and working, counseling at a camp, whatever helps keep you on pace or ahead of your peers. Good luck.

Our plebe's roomie is a Purdue reapplicant. It can be done! Good luck to you!

I've got a 4.85 gpa, rank 11/285 in my class, all honors and ap classes, I'll be graduating hs with my associates degree, class president, student council, national honor society, multiple leadership programs, 3 yrs varsity tennis (would have been 4 but covid), 27 ACT composite, 1190 PSAT (didn't take SAT) + 2 nominations

My cfa was a little worse (female) - 4 pull ups, 47 meter bball throw, 28 push ups, 72 sit ups, 9.2 second shuttle run, 9:40 mile

My back up is to attend Purdue University and apply next year (wasn't able to meet the deadline for ROTC scholarship)
GPA and class rank maybe a bit low, good enough extracurriculars, ACT maybe too low, and mile run too slow.

Many people that attended my school got in to West Point, usually if other areas like the CFA are no good enough they aim at a 4.9 at least.

Because One of my friend told me that the for the 2026 class they expect a lot more applications compared to the 2025 class
