Congratulations to the Class of 2023 - Officially "Plebes No More"!

What went down? I asked DS if there was any recognition and he said, “I don’t know. I don’t check my email every day.”

If memory serves, today was supposed to be the Herndon climb. Obviously, it didn't happen. My guess is that the Supe/Dant gave the effect of the climb virtually on the day it was to happen.

The Supe and Dant climbed Herndon on behalf of the Class, replaced the dixie cup with a cover, and announced that '23 were officially plebes no more.

The Dant announced that '23 will be able to make the climb in person when they return to the Yard.

They also displayed the approved crest of the class, with the motto.

I wonder if either Dant or Supe thought they would EVER be on (bc they aren’t climbing it...) Herndon again. In a plebe shirt. Trading covers.

What world even is this??!

Correct. They are now 4/C. At graduation all classes will move up. Usually as soon as the covers are tossed the Brigade wakes up from sleeping through graduation and happily swaps out their shoulder boards while in the stadium.

No such thing.
That is a Midshipman Phys Ed shirt and not just for plebes.
My hubby had a blue rimmed, white tshirt back when he was enlisted. We were newlyweds and I stole it. This was admittedly a *few* (cough, cough) years (where "years" == "decades") ago, but I would have said they were the same - ? Is that possible?

The USNA shirts have the USNA Seal on them and that would not be "a thing" outside of USNA

I don't think the Blue Ringed PE shirt has changed forever ... In contrast to modern Dry Wick materials, it is very heavy, hot and retains sweat ...just perfect for PEP during Plebe Summer. Oh, and it smells wonderful after left out in the passageways of Bancroft Hall to dry !

I am so impressed with the leadership at USNA!! As a Nurse working in the middle of this "COVID C#@P", I hate the changes it has caused in our country and what it has taken away from all the midshipman and Plebe's to be. That being said (IMO), the leadership team is doing all they can to keep all safe and moral high, while at the same time honoring graduating seniors, current brigade midshipmen and class of 24' waiting in a holding pattern to join the brigade. Nothing is perfect, but they are doing an OUTSTANDING JOB!

Blue rims also are known to shrink. They start our fitting just fine and end up being tiny by the time you graduate. Sure some Mids find the weight room, but when your stuff is washed in nearly boiling water it tends to shrink. If you look at firsties most of their blue rims won’t even tuck in they are so short. I think the Blue Rim has been around for 50+ years or so.
