Yesplus did DS pass dodmerb?
I attended an admissions briefing given by admissions advisors over the summer and if remember correctly they had a slide that said there are typically 4,000 qualified candidates (meet basic requirements, have a nomination, medical cleared etc) and out of that roughly 1,000 are appointed and accepted. Not too sure how accurate these figures are, but they came directly from Air Force Admissions Advisors. That would mean a 1/4 probability assuming your DS is currently a "qualified candidate".
Thanks! My numbers were a little off but the numbers you provided has a higher probability! Greats news. Thanks for sharing.Straight from a briefing at USAFA in March of this year.

So my DS found out today that he not only received a nomination from a US Congressman, but also US Senator. Does having two nominations increase his chances of an appointment? Thank you all for the feedback. What is the likelihood of a candidate that receives a congressional nomination to receive an appointment to the USAFA? My DS received his congressional nomination today. Thank you
Elected officials may or may not notify applicants. If it’s in the portal, it’s official, as USAFA has apparently received the slate.DS saw in the application system that he received a nomination to USAFA from one of our US Senators (Capito-WV). They put his nom in the system but he hasn’t been officially notified yet...
How do you know if your district is competitive or not? I’m a first time applicant and know of nobody else who has gone through this process, that’s why I am wondering. In some districts its 100% chance of getting a nomination. In others, lower. Completely depends on the district.
As far as chance of appointment, some MoCs rank their nominations and I have been told (though I can't verify) that if they rank you #1 you will get an appointment assuming you meet medical, pass CFA and meet minimum academic requirements. All in all, the nomination is one part of the process so its worth celebrating.
Congrats and complete the application process, CFA, DoDMERB etc and then work Plan B in the meantime.
What state do you live in?What is the likelihood of a candidate that receives a congressional nomination to receive an appointment to the USAFA? My DS received his congressional nomination today. Thank you
