Hi,

I am a freshman who just joined my school's Army ROTC program. I had two questions

1. How do you stay competitive for a contract (general tips), especially because I can not compete until I have my waiver go through for the below question.
2. I tore my ACL and had it reconstructed in 2017 - I am perfectly capable of physical activity and am in no pain. I was wondering if anyone has gone through this specific waiver process (it is somewhat common) and know how easy it is to get a waiver/how long it took you considering I am past the 1 year of surgery and my leg is okay.

Thanks.

The DQ for surgery is 6 months. You are passed that. Have you started DoDMERB?

You might get DQ for the ACL, but with ROTC they will start a waiver.
When that happens promptly follow the instructions you receive from DoDMERB.
Avoid sending unsolicited information. You have no control how it will be interpreted.
They (probably) will ask for the surgical reports, discharge records (if in patient) and a letter from the surgeon saying the surgery was successful and you are cleared for unrestricted activity.
That phrase seems to be important. My son's DoDMERB technician told him for his waiver to make sure the Doctor used that language in this letter for clarity.
Of course crushing the PFT will be great proof you have healed.
