Coolest Uniforms to Wear

I had this friend in college that wanted to be a police officer. He scoured the internet almost nightly for months, looking up police departments, their uniforms, and their police cars. He was determined to look awesome in his new career and find the perfect police department to match his look. Incidentally, he landed and is coming up for retirement in a police department with ugly brown uniforms, so I guess he ultimately decided that the department was more important than the look. But just for fun, what do you think is the coolest looking military uniform to wear?

+1 to any form of whites, Army or Navy. My iPad and iPhone wallpaper is our son in his whites.

I’m with Skipper.
Marine officer uniforms are custom-tailored, and perfect fit is expected, along with the fit body and precise grooming.

Navy summer white and service or full-dress white - nothing says Navy like that. There is a reason the Public Health Service and NOAA commissioned officer corps wear Navy uniforms with their own insignia.

Army pinks and greens - distinctive.

Marine Dress Blues followed by their Alphas (the green jacket, slacks, and khaki shirt with tie). I do like the new Pink and Greens the Army is going with. Summer whites do look nice, but as someone who wore them, it is terrible to wear and keep clean!

Let's not limit it to US Military uniforms:

Pakistani and Indian Border Guards. Spats, Capri pants and I don't know what you call that thing on their heads.

French Sappers. The axe, apron and all manner of Facial Hair are awesome.

I would be a conscientious objector if drafted into the Spanish Army

Whoa...Monty python comes to mind. And that’s NOT a good thing, I’m pretty sure 😬

I’m the same as skipper and CaptMJ

U.S Secret Service 1970. Swiss Guard today.

I would to love to hear your guys' thoughts on what academies have the coolest cadet uniforms.

I liked these:
- Choker white with medals (full-dress white), looked stylish standing next to any Marine or sister service officers.
- Summer white (tropical white long back in the day), very eye catching particularly during port visits (Ft Lauderdale and Malaga, Spain amongst others).
- Service Dress Blue with bridge coat in Portsmouth, England or any other cold sea-fairing port.
- Never wore it, but I thought service dress khaki looked spiffy especially when Elvis wore it (and Elvis was a soldier!). Check out the intro in Easy Come, Easy Go
- It’s not a uniform in the Navy, as it is in the Air Force, but wearing a “bag” (flight suit) was, and always will be cool.

USMA’s Nutcracker costume has to top the list. The cost of those gold-plated buttons alone...

DD during plebe year had a company mate on exchange from Canada. On the march to football games, while the mids were wearing SDBs, the Canadian mid would wear a natty outfit that was topped by what looked like a pillbox hat with chin strap, donned at a jaunty angle. So if you didn’t know better, you’d think the company had been infiltrated by an old-school bellman straight out of the Grand Budapest Hotel. I’m sure his uniform looked just dandy amid his fellow Canucks, but it was a bit odd and eye-catching among the Americans. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Have some fun and Google the Navy officer’s boat cloak, a vintage item that left the uniform regs just a few years ago. It was lined in gold satin. Nurses’ cloaks were lined in red, I think. Very dashing. I always wanted one but couldn’t figure out when to wear it

Marine officers used to have a formal evening cloak lined in, of course, red.

And then there were the female officer tiaras, but that’s a story for another day.

Found the Marine:

Could have been worse, he could have been wearing the white pith helmet with the gold spike... But yeah, none of the RMC dress uniforms would blend in at the US service academies.

For some reason this reminded me of the joke about the pirate who had his first mate bring him his red shirt each time before going into battle, until before one battle, he asked for his brown pants.
