Coolest Uniforms to Wear

The conversation went something like this...

"Young man...young man?" "Yes ma'am?" "Are you the chief flight attendant? You seem much too young to be the pilot, but you're wearing that airline suit so I figure you must do something on board..."

:unhappy::bang:

The ONLY "good" uniform in the air force is the flight suit: period, end of statement.

Steve

At some point as a CGA cadet I was in New York, waiting at Penn Station, and I had, I think three people ask for track assignments. This is a train station. My hat had an anchor on it. My name tag said "U.S. COAST GUARD" under my last name.

The last person to ask looked down and then apologized.

I, of course, did answer their questions, because..... why not?

Definitely designer wear. Boss is who I think is associated with that era. I’m fond of reading period espionage novels from WWII, and Coco Chanel was well-entrenched with the German establishment at that time as well.

Hugo Boss?

We have a winner!

He isn't just associated with the era. He was a full blown, early adopter, self-aggrandizing, self-promoting Nazi. He and his descendants constantly tried and are trying to sanitize the history, reducing him to a minor functionary and "follower". It's a pity they've been so successful.

Learning that the Army-Navy Game will be played at West Point prompted this thought: My second favorite uniform, behind only summer whites, is the cold-weather grays worn by USMA cadets when marching on at A-N G. I don’t know their official name, but they’re the ones with the short cape buttoned at the collar, which looks especially dashing when worn swept back at the shoulders. Sharp!

I was talking to a friend about the Coast Guard Trops and he said ‘Oh you mean the bus drivers uniform!’ - I had to admit he has a point.

It’s called the Long O(vercoat) and does almost nothing to keep the body underneath warm. The first time I saw a pic of our son in that coat, I thought he was a hotel doorman. It’s one item he did not keep after graduation. I guess they can be sold back.

Yes, I’ve heard the Long O (thanks, @VelveteenR) is not very warm. So chalk one up for the mids with their black overcoats! (And, as DD did two years ago, layered underneath with a down jacket.)

Dang Nazis, even ruining cool fashion!

USMC dress uniforms are sharp.
For SAs, I am kind of partial to the USAFA Parade Dress...for looks...they are NOT comfortable.

For comfort, flight suit please!
Just a random question from a non-military person, are flight suits restricted to only certain personnel or do all AF wear them at certain times?

Only personnel whose job involves flight duties. That is not only pilots and flight officers, but loadmasters, sensor operators and various other flight positions as well.

@WT Door - to be clear, that is a stock photo. Fortunately, I didn't need glasses while I was serving. Probably explains how I was able to meet my wife, marry, and have children. ;)

Just wondering when they will change the Second Infantry Patch shown above? Proud emblem since 1917. Then again they are not the Washington Football Team. Then again who knows?
