As there are many former and current officers on here I was wondered if you all could address I couple questions I have.

1. I am looking to get a part-time job as a personal trainer at a local fitness club. Obviously I will have ROTC down on my resume, however is it appropriate to list my PMS as a reference/POC for a job application? If I inform him prior to me submitting the application would that be appropriate?

2. At commissioning what ribbons are new 2LTs authorized to wear (army)? I guess until those gold bars are on our shoulders technically nothing is authorized, but I was wondering if ASR or NDSM prior to BOLC completion or at commissioning was allowed. I believe the GWOT ribbon is after 30 days of duty time.

Thanks

Suggest you ask your PMS if he is OK with you using him as a reference. You should always ask your references if it's OK.

You won't be wearing any ribbons until you graduate from your OBC, unless you are prior service. If you are a generic cadet with no prior service you don't have any "Army Service" yet, nor have you done anything to provide "National Defense" yet. Wondering why SA grads are authorized NDSM though.
