Hi, currently a junior and we just got our course selection sheets for senior year. Wondering the opinion of others on which class would be better seeing that I only have one available selection left. Latin 3 or ap computer science?

Latin 3 isn't considered a modern language I would take a modern language for 2 years.

Latin is considered a base language as almost all Romance languages stem from latin roots so I choose it to help in the understanding of multiple dialects. My question is which class would appeal more to a service academy. Because along with taking that third year of language our school denounces distinguished degrees (I higher placement if you will), however I know a computer science class is highly encouraged but not required for an academy

Sounds like you have already made up your mind to take Latin.

Have you taken plenty of math classes and chemistry or physics? West Point will ask for statements from a high school English, math, and chemistry or physics teacher.

Part of the requirement classes is 2 years of a modern language. It's not absolutely needed but it helps from what I hear. Your call, Latin wouldn't help as much in my opinion but do why you like.

Unless the requirements have changed from last year, Latin is recognized for fulfilling the language requirement. My DS took 3 yrs of Latin in high school, and no other foreign language. But he also took every math (through AP Calc BC) and science (AP/dual-enrollment) class available. If you have 2 yrs of Latin, you could take a different class -- your best bet would be something STEM related.

Thanks, and I will be taking bc calculus next year as well! So would you recommend a class such as ap computer science or concepts of engineering or something?

Have you taken chemistry and physics? If not, you should take those instead; if so, have you taken biology or AP Environmental Science? If so, and you're taking Calc BC, then AP computer science (or concepts of engineering) is probably good if you're interested in either of those. The SAs want to see that you are taking the hardest classes available at your school. Since not every high school offers the same level of classes, everyone is not going to have the same opportunities. But you will stand out by excelling at the hardest curriculum your school offers.

I've taken chemisty , ap physics 1 , and I'm currently in ap physics 2. Next year I'll be taking ap bio

My opinion: you've taken a very rigorous high school course load. Choose which class you prefer for your senior year.
