Will the coronavirus vaccine become a required vaccine for cadets? I know it cannot be a required vaccine for the Army until it is FDA approved, but does anyone know what that timeline looks like?

There are many, many posts and threads on this that you can find if you search with the SAF search tool or via Google for posts with "Service Academy Forums," "COVID" and "vaccine" as terms.

Currently it is not required by Cadets.
Hypothetical question of “Will it be required that Cadets get vaccinated ?”
No one here knows a definitive answer to that question any more than knowing if parents will be allowed to attend this year’s graduation ceremony in person, for example.
Rules and situations change frequently, so stay flexible and prepared for alternate plans for nearly everything in today’s world.

My guess would be that it will eventually be a required vaccine, the only thing stopping USMA from forcing the shot on cadets is the emergency authorization status of the vaccine. Once it becomes fully approved I would think it will be treated like a flu shot which is required for all cadets. My 2017 DS said that walking hours were given if the flu shot was not received. JMO

I agree.

My review of the data is that the Johnson & Johnson that is being tested is as or more effective as the other two out now....but J&J after 1 shot, like the flu. Once that rolls....I could see this come out as the mandate in situations like this. ***Warning...this is Speculative Opinion Based on reading...not a judgement on other vaccines etc and etc as to not offend***

As I've written before, in the scheme of vaccines that you will be required to have in the military the COVID vaccine would be pretty far down my list of ones to worry about.

They ought to be able to do this. They've already vaccinated 1,000,000 military personnel.
