Do people in the military take creatine? And also, If I were to be going to an Academy over the summer would it be beneficial to start taking it with my workouts?

They sure do. I recommend it if you are willing to drop some coin on purchasing consistently and are committed to muscle building. There actually is a creatine shortage right now and prices are way jacked up compared to what they used to be.

Training with intensity and purpose is priority though. Creatine won’t magically give you gains, it is just an aid that will provide energy to working muscles.

Sleep>Nutrition>Training>Supplements

Why do you think you need creative? What advantage does it give you that you don’t have now? Physical fitness is first and foremost a product of great nutrition, ample sleep and committed exercise. Which one are you missing, or skipping, or ignoring?

At our battalion, several of the more enthusiastic gym rats use creatine, or something along those lines. Since I have zero certifications in medical/nutritional counseling, I hesitate to recommend one way or the other. But, one of my "muscle heads" referenced the healthline link below, which I think gives a fair treatment to the benefits of creatine. I think it's worth discussing with either your regular physician or even a high school nurse before you start doing any form of major supplements.

Prior link and many other actual studies prove the benefits in men and women. FDA backed. Any more than 5g a day is wasted.

For anecdotals, here are mine: It takes away the burn from the last few reps in a set so you can do more. It gave me a temper when I was younger so watch out for that. Assuming you’re doing the basics already, creatine can give you a boost in performance. I got 74 push-ups in 60 sec on it. Talk to your doctor.
