Can you speak to your overall experience so far? Thanks for willingness to share and serve.
How was your admission process to USNA different since you were prior enlisted? Do you think it is a good option to go about for reapplying. to there? Thank you so much for your willingness to serve.
Youre statement about enlisting just for a path to USNA makes excellent sense. Go Navy!Hey! It wasn't too different, apart from the recommendation letters and the BGO interview. Instead of letters from teachers, I got them from members of my chain of command. I was in aviation maintenance so I had my maintenance officer (a commander) write me one, and the commandant of the air wing (a captain, and my former CO) write me one. You also have to route up a letter of recommendation for your CO to sign, as well as an application for the SECNAV nomination. It really does sound like a lot, but honestly it wasn't that bad.
And as for the BGO interview: I didn't know that it wasn't required for me to have one until late January, so that was a huge relief.
If you're talking about being prior enlisted and reapplying, I say go for it. It's an excellent opportunity. However, I wouldn't enlist from high school with the specific intention of applying to USNA again. Yes, being enlisted was one of the best things I have ever done. But if you're not ready for that type of commitment and are ONLY in it to reapply... I'd reexamine your intentions. I am so glad I was enlisted first, though. I think, as an officer, having been enlisted before would help you to understand the lives of your Sailors and Marines a whole lot more.
I hope that was helpful, if there are any additional questions let me know!
Yes, thank you so much! I did have thoughts of enlisting right after high school in order to have a better understanding of enlisted personnel to be a better leader. But never the less, I will just keep applying to USNA until I am of age and cannot go. Keep at the good work and Go Navy!Hey! Is a congressional nomination required to receive an appointment to NAPS?Hey everyone! I know people will be hearing back from USNA soon about getting accepted to NAPS. I'm currently a prior enlisted student here, so if anyone has any questions, I'll do my best to answer!
NoIs a congressional nomination required to receive an appointment to NAPS?
So, right now I did not recieve any nomination and my application is complete, except for my DoDMERB. Do I just continue to check my portal everyday to see if I get an appointment to NAPS? Or is there something else that is required from me to do?
If everything else is done, just wait and be patient! So, right now I did not recieve any nomination and my application is complete, except for my DoDMERB. Yes, there’s the new portal and the old CIS. you can look at some recent posts that have a link to both.Thank you so much! Also, do you know if there are two different portals? I've been reading about that?
