I am going to be at MMI again next year and reapply to the academy and CSPI. If neither of those work out I will transfer to FAU (most likely bc it’s a cspi school and I’m from Florida) and then reapply for cspi again and then if I don’t get it again then I’ll finish my bachelors and apply for OCS. I’ve mostly talked to Captain Gatlin (he’s a retired uscg captain and he teaches math at MMI) about it and he told me more about cspi and ocs. He’s the academic advisor for all Cgas and self sponsored coasties so he helped me create my schedule for next semester to work towards my associates degree.
That is, in my opinion, a super solid plan! And a testament to the many people looking here for direction. MMI is definitely great at providing kids like you excellent opportunities, if your willing to work for them.
My Son ended up with the "trifecta". 3rd year applying to Service Academies. 3 Appointments. USMA, USAFA and USCGA!
I obviously can't say he would have failed in this end result, if he'd have gone to State U, done ROTC, and pursued SA appointments again from there. But, I honestly feel like MMI really made it much easier for him to fully showcase his incredible hard work to the gatekeepers involved. There's no doubt in my mind, you're at the right place.
MMI did everything they said they would for my son, and so much MORE. We're from a very competitive N. TX congressional district, so you sure can't argue with the results.
Third time is the charm!!!
You're gonna realize your USCGA dreams, I just know it!!! And you will undoubtedly have great success in that endeavor. Enjoy your journey!
