Am I correct that According to the instructions on the portal, it looks like all those who have been accepted into the USMA class of 2026 have to get 1 Panorex and 4 Dental bite wings sent to the USMA before May 15th.
Do we go to our own dentists for that? My dentist is telling me I’d have to take my son to an oral surgeon to get a Panorex?

Our DD arranged for the x-rays with the same oral surgeon who had removed her wisdom teeth. She explained why she needed them and he charged something, but it wasn't too bad. I don't think, in our case, that we had insurance that would cover it. Congrats to your son on his appointment. Fortunately, going forward once he reports on R-Day, your son's medical will be covered by Tricare.

Yes. Your own dentist. And I think it is common that a typical dentist does not have ability to panorex. We did ours at the orthodontist office that did his braces. They had capability.

My dentist is sending us to an oral surgeon to get the Panorex. I don’t mind. I just wanted to make sure I was reading the instructions correctly and we were supposed to get that done on our own before they report for their first day. 😀

DS got from orthodontist and regular dentist. They gave pdf of what's on file for free. I think orthodontists would normally have the pano equipment.

This is the one thing that has stumped us. It took us forever to get a dental appointment and now we know he needs his molars removed. The problem is we need to get an approved referral and they said it could take up to a month to get it and then 2-3 weeks to have them removed. That's not enough time to meet the deadline AND have him healed up by R-Day.

Why does he need molars removed? Can he wait and just do it sometime while he’s in school or at the end of the summer or does it hurt him and he needs to have it done now?

Last year, my son had to get all of that done really fast in one month’s time to be ready for R-Day. This included removal of wisdom teeth since they were impacted, and he couldn’t get the dental form signed off until they were removed. Our dentist is retired Air Force, so she understood what needed to happen and why. Her staff was on the phone for a long time making arrangements. Thankfully it all got done, he healed up, and our dentist signed off on his dental forms before the deadline. But we were sweating for sure. I wish I had known about this and had gotten it done in January instead of May. Maybe someone could make a sticky on the USMA thread about the dental requirement.

I am sure the may 15th deadline is either not correct or will be extended for others because some kids don't hear back until a couple days before R day.
Ok, thank you! This is really hard. Lots to be accomplished if you get in. But more time would be nice.

You coukd schedule a routine dental appointment now to find out if any work needs to be done, especially if the wisdom teeth need to come out.

Nope. They are impacted. The dental "contact" said to make sure and get them done ASAP as he would need to be all healed up by R-Day. I'm trying my best to get them to expedite this approval.
