Son had eye exam today. Looking for any historical perspective.
Son's eye doctor was rushed and straight off the bat said "this will be a quick screen" we went through this last yr and was surprised at how rushed he was. Son followed the instructions and did not wear contacts three days before. He does not own current glasses so didn't bring glasses (big mistake!) he was -4 in both eyes but just borrowed his dads glasses the past few days.
Regarding Color vision he was given 0 out of 14 though he did get some correct (I was sitting there) that should still be ok because he passed vivid red/green.
However, when it was time for the depth perception portion son was not given an opportunity to put his contacts in. I asked the eye doctor if the depth correction test should be with corrected vision. He said yes but your kid didn't bring any glasses. I said we weren't told to bring glasses. He wasnt allowed to put his contacts in. He got 3 out of 9. I immediately called our family eye doctor who said son was just there a few months ago for a thorough eye exam, has been going there for six years and does not have a depth perception problem. I made a new apt with family eye dr to redo the opto Dodmerb form and fax it in.
I do not know if he will pass, get a remedial or go straight to hoping for a waiver. This is just as it pertains to Army ROTC. Any past history of info. Though every case is different and I know no one here is on the board.
