Determining NOM source for appointment

My DS received an offer of admission on his portal yesterday, but it doesn't indicate which nominating source led to the appointment. He has MOC and Presidential noms. No call from a MOC and no official letter uploaded to his portal, just a banner that says congratulations with a link to accept/decline the appointment. Will an official letter follow and indicate which nom source led to the appointment?

That’s not typical. Many MOCs notify candidates of their offer, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the nom was charged to the MOC. In districts where there are multiple offerrees, only one or so will be charged to the MOC, but the MOC might still call all the offerees to offer congratulations.

Think of noms as being part of a puzzle. All those pieces are locking into place even while offers are being sent. In the end, you may never know who the nom was charged to. And in the end, it doesn’t matter.

True, doesn't really matter. Just curious more than anything. Thanks for the reply.

What everyone else said. It may not even be firmly nailed down yet. It may not even be charged to the Presidential OR MOC (though they often cheerfully take credit for all appointees from their District, regardless of nom sources) but the nom authority the SA holds to choose other fully qualified applicants from that slate and charge it to nom authorities they manage.

Nothing to spend time or thought on.

You will never know. Sometimes the MoC will call kids that receive an appointment but only have a Presidential nom. No reason to it. Congratulations.

There was a famous quote here, which I’ll paraphrase, from someone who didn’t get on the MOC slate but was appointed, likely with their Presidential.

“Not good enough for the MOC slate, good enough for the grip and grin at the District appointee photo op.”

DS didn't find out until the local/state banquet for appointees about a week before R Day. And it seemed to have been accidental. One of the state field force came up to him and said "Congratulations for getting a Primary Nomination from xxxxxx" and so not only did he know then, he assumed that is why he got a letter of declination from the other state rep, based on a sense of those parties sharing notes and they already knew he got a primary (principle... whatever it's called, been over 10 years ago) so they used their nomination for someone who they weren't sure was getting in. Connecting the dots and reading into it. By then, it wasn't even on his mind. But it was by no means timely, or apparently even intentional.

I'm truly interested about the VP nom. We can sort of guess for the other nom sources, but who truly gets the VP? It's too mysterious.
