Do AFROTC documents change from pending to ready?

I uploaded all the required documents for AFROTC a few days ago and they all say "pending." Does this change to ready?

Also, is there anything I need to do to submit it? There isn't really any indication of what I should do when I've filled out everything.

All answers are appreciated!

Assuming you’re talking about the documents required AFTER you’ve received your scholarship, you actually shouldn’t have submitted those already to my knowledge. My detachment said to hold off and they will take those physically when you arrive. In addition, on the actual forms it explicitly said (I’m paraphrasing here) “Do not sign these unless in the presence of your cadre, or they must be notarized by a legal authority.” You should wait to submit those until you’ve actually filled out the documents under the supervision of your detachment’s cadre.

If you’re talking about the documents that are required to APPLY for a scholarship, just make sure they’re all in the system and a technician will look at them within a couple weeks to verify their accuracy. Just give them time, and check on your application regularly to ensure that they’ve OK’d your documents. Good luck!

Thanks. Also another question if you don’t mind. Should I expect someone to contact me about my application or do I need to reach out to someone? For NROTC my scholarship coordinator reached out to me.

Well they expect you to interview, and in all fairness they are supposed to coordinate the interview, but if they don’t contact you within a couple of weeks reach out to the HQ with the email/number provided in correspondences with AFROTC. I was told that someone would reach out to me to set up an interview, but when that didn’t happen I contacted HQ, then contacted the detachment with the email they provided. I ended up not having to do an interview since I had already interviewed for USAFA, so my USAFA interviewer sent the info to my AFROTC interviewer. I don’t know if this happens for everyone, but the point is they SHOULD reach out to you, just be prepared to contact HQ if they don’t.

Follow-up question. DS2 is completing the AFROTC application. Does he need to complete it before scheduling his interview? He tried to schedule directly with a Detachment and they said to schedule it through the portal - but he doesn't see a place to do so. I know that the AROTC and NROTC doesn't have to be fully complete to schedule the interview and they flow together and complete the packet.

Actually, I'm pretty sure NROTC (at least MO) requires the application to be completed before scheduling the interview and PFT. I may be wrong but I suppose it doesn't matter since your interested in AFROTC.

The HQ will contact you to tell you who will be performing your interview AFTER you complete all required documents on your portal, including your PFT I believe. After HQ tells you who will conduct the interview, the detachment conducting the interview should contact you to set up a time (and place if you are near the detachment).

DS completed the application-within a week Captain emailed from detachment and advised he should submit two dates for interview-set for Monday. He did not need to call anyone.

DS is applying NROTC. His older brother other also did two years ago. Two years ago, the application was submitted before the officer interview. This cycle, DS was specifically told to not submit his application until after his officer interview, in case the interviewer had any ideas for his application (which he did). Both boys had the same recruiters and interviewers. Not sure if there is any significance at all to this, but there ‘ya go!

This was also different for both DS’s, who contacted the officer at their number 1 detachment and set up their interviews themselves. They initiated, it didn’t come from HQ. So it’s not a set in stone process.
