My name was recently forwarded to DoDMERB by the AFA, and I just finished setting up my appointments. I saw on the packet that the examiners were to send the medical form back to the Air Force Academy. I was wondering, do I need to take a DoDMERB for each academy I apply to, or does the one DoDMERB I am scheduled for by the AFA get sent to all the academies I'm applying to? Thank you so much!

No. Once you are in DoDMERB....as your applications process, each SA or ROTC will enter your info and have access to the same file.

DoDMERB services all SA's and ROTC programs, but is headquartered at USAFA. As Jag stated above, once you pass DoDMERB, you are qualified for any SA or ROTC program. Howver if you are DQ'd by DoDMERB, it is up to each SA or program to grant a waiver (DoDMERB has no say in the waiver decision).

Here is the flow chart for the initial DoDMERB process:

Here is the process for being considered for a waiver:

The same DODMERB is used by several academies, but they may take different things from it. What might be of concern to one academy may be of no concern to another. So don’t be surprised if issues arise for one but not another.

How you know what SA ordered the DODMERB? DS applied to all SAs summer and got accepted to all but AFA (was conflict with Boy state) so all preliminary applications were done but not planning to apply to all.

MJ — I assume you mean your DS was accepted to the USMA and USNA summer leadership programs? But could not attend the USAFA summer seminar because it conflicted with your DS attending Boys State?

If so, good luck and best wishes to him for gaining an appointment to one of the SAs.

My memory is that you should be able to tell which SA puts your son forward for DoDMERB via your son’s SA Admissions Portals. Once DoDMERB makes its determination on whether your DS is medically qualified or DQ, you will also be able to tell on the DoDMERB portal.
