Have applied to USNA class of 2017. Got the results from DoDMERB and the only negative result is Astigmatism - code 155.80 and DODMERB listed me as Does not meet medical standards. My Astigmatism is 3.00 in right and .25 in left according to my optometrist. DODMERB does not list level of Astigmatism on exam. Would prefer not to go through waiver process. Any suggestions on how to deal with my situation. I feel like the Astigmatism that I have is not disqualifying based on the USNA Appendix "A" listing Astigmatism over 3.00 as being disqualifying.

Reality is if you are DQ you will go through the process. There is absolutely, positively nothing you can do to stop the process. DoDMERB DQ's and USNA waives.

If you are 1000% sure that it says 3.00 on your record, not 3.0 than I wouldn't worry. It appears 3.00 is fine, 3.01 not fine. Look at your records, see if it is 3.0 or 3.00.

I called DoDMERB and they said that my optometrist can supply records of my recent exam that shows my Astigmatism at 3.00. When DoDMERB recieves the info they will add to my file and the information will be reviewed and based on the review my status could change or another exam will be ordered to verify. We will see what happens when the information is faxed in tomorrow. DoDMERB has me at -4.50 Astigmatism which does not make sense since 4 months ago my Optometrist measured me at 3.00 and gave me a prescription for new contacts and I see 20/20 with them.

With such a huge difference, I would think they may order another test because someone has to be off here.

Is your doc a DoDMERB doc?

No but he was about 15 years ago. I sent the letter and print outs that the Dr. gave me to DoDmerb this morning. We will see in the next few days.

You are right, you will find out in the next few days.

Speculating on this issue will do nothing, but create angst.

My very best hopes, wishes and thoughts are with you.
