Does every candidate get offered a CVW?

I may be wrong but I don't believe every candidate is offered a CVW. I do know of folks who have requested one through admissions and had it granted.

Not every candidate does. I applied three times and only was invited my second time. They only have a few weekends and will send up to around 500 candidates per, or at least that is how many when I was invited. From what I have seen it is candidates who have completed applications very early, have their LOA, or are NAPSters. It is definitely not a make or break thing to participate in and is much more for the candidate than the academy. Us plebes basically bring candidates everywhere with them to show them how a day of plebe year is.

No, not all are offered. You can request one. Doesn't mean they will give you one. As said it's not a requirement to get in. Some have already seen enough of USNA through other visits, camps, summer seminar, etc. Others don't have the funds to attend or their schedules don't allow it. If you aren't sure USNA is for you or can't decide between academies, the. I would highly recommend someone attend. If you are USNA all the way, it's nice to attend, but not a deal breaker.

Ask your BGO. They can get it for you. Daughter had LOA but no CVW. BGO made it happen

Understand that USNA tends not to give CVW invites to candidates who already had one or attended NASS. There are, obviously, exceptions...but be prepared if USNA says no.

I received a CVW offer but I couldn't make it because I had a football game. I was just curious if it were a good indication or if it's something everyone receives.

It has zero foreshadowing on an appointment, if that is what you mean.
