Does having 20-15 vision help in getting pilot service selection?

No. As long as someone is qualified for pilot medically that is all that matters. Flight physical is much more thorough than DODMERB. And vision can change from now until that physical.
 
I had 20-15 at commissioning in 2006. I started getting headaches last year and finally went back to the eye doctor…. 20-40…. my poor eyes.
 
Just as poor vision won't necessarily keep you out. We know a 2014 USNA grad who had RK surgery his 2/c year and is now in his second year of flight school.
