My question is essentially the title. If you're sent to NAPS rather than recieving a direct appointment, after completing NAPS are you guaranteed an appointment or do you have to go through the whole admission/nomination process again?

Though nothing is absolutely guaranteed, if you satisfactorily complete all aspects of NAPS (academic, conduct, honor, military performance, physical fitness, etc.), it is indeed a “golden ticket.” Your DoDMERB is good for 2 years; you update any changes to your medical history. You are expected to apply for all the noms for which you are eligible again, but you will have enlisted status, so you will be eligible in a new nom category. NAPSters are guided through the re-app process

Thank you, this answers my question completely

An doing well academically means a 2.0 overall gpa and not failing any particular course.

And as far as that they will work really hard to make sure you are able to pass and get a 2.0 or better. The same goes for all the physical stuff, Lots and lots of help.

Yes, NAPS offers many resources to help ensure that your M/C or C/C success both academically and physically. If they are struggling in one or the other or even both, it's really up to the candidates to put in the work and the effort to show that they are trying to improve by going to remedials and attending EI.
