Anyone know if an 8-10 week strategic language Project-GO program abroad counts as training/activity on OML, particularly since CULP has been indefinitely suspended?

I believe Project GO did count as Training several years ago when my son did it. Even if it doesn't count, it should be a no brainer if DD/DS is so inclined.

Remember GPA is most important. My son received credit, which freed up a class in his schedule. If one doesn't get credit, then it should improve performance in the foreign language classes back home, which would be an enhancement to one's GPA.

Benefits of the overseas experience are broad and immeasurable.

It took several years, but his experience then is applicable now everyday.

Love this! Yes, DS quite inclined. I’m just wondering if it impacts only Language/Culture or hits “Training/Activities” too, since it IS an ROTC program. He’s looking at other summer ROTC options and doing a semester abroad, but if ProjGo counts for both, he might do better to not go abroad for the semester. Sounds like it might be both!

Can't answer that. Best to talk to PMS/ROO.

If I talk to DS, I'll ask about his situation. I may have been wrong; that it was actually Language/ culture instead of Training. It was a while ago, but if there was any chance to double dip, he would be the one to pull it off.

Best of luck to him!

Thanks for asking him! DS is reaching out to coordinators today.

He doesn't remember, which doesn't surprise me. The hook was an all expense paid full immersion language program in Ukraine. He was always thinking about what HE thought was best, i.e. most fun/exciting, rather than how it fit into someone else's formula for success.

Project GO would fall under Language/Cultural Awareness under the Academic Outcomes of the OML model. However, the Language/Cultural Awareness and the Cadet Training/Extracurricular Activities both max out at 5pts, so there is no real advantage for Project GO to be considered training. Here is the FY22 OML Model:

I know for AF ROTC, my DD said that this would count as one of their 2 required professional trainings. She's trying for it for 2022 summer as well. Was on their webinar last week and they said about 30% of applicants are generally accepted, however they said that there are more programs being offered this cycle so the number may increase.

Hi @MohawkArmyROTC, Can you tell us for which majors the Academic Discipline Mix points are given? STEM and nursing, but anything else?
