Hi All,

I think I know the answer to this, but just want to make sure if my understanding is correct. As we all know DoDMerb evaluation can take up some time for applicants and it is recommended to complete a portion of the app to trigger DoDmerb early.

Since NROTC application is open for current Juniors to start and if the applicant completes a portion of the app, will it trigger DoDmerb? I mean why wait for the SA application(s) portal to open somewhere later.

Thank you

You only go to DoDMERB for ROTC if you win a scholarship.

Here's the answer:

ROTC applicants are NOT authorized to obtain a DoDMERB, until and unless they are awarded a scholarship. Those boards start in Oct and end at the end of Mar. Just because they apply, does not mean they will be a winner.

Academy applicants are not downloaded to DoDMERB until after 1 Jul.

If an Academy applicant obtains their DoDMERB and then wins an ROTC scholarship, that same exam will meet the DoDMERB requirement.

I will be off the net for the next 2.5 hours :wiggle:

thank you all for your wonderful and time info. I just realised that i knew nothing.

So, to clarify - how long after you accept your scholarship can you expect some word about how to start Dodmerb process?

When your scholarship letter is sent to you, that starts your process. log into www.dodmets.com. If that doesn't work, comply with the FAST sticky under the DoDMERB tab :wiggle:

Thank you! I was hoping you’d reply! Funny thing is that I, mom, am returning to the military as a NP and just got my email including a letter of instruction from you. I was getting worried that my DS hadn’t gotten anything. I’ll have him login in today!
