does the academy occasionally not send a scholastically qualified letter. i know i am but i never got a letter other than that i have 2 noms and am qualified through dodmerb and passed the CFA:biggrin: thanks for the help in this time of excruciating waiting !!!

It never sent me one, but i got an LOA tho, so i don't really know. Did they send you letters telling you that you were athletically and medically qualified?

yes
i got all that with the exception of the athletically. with the CFA no notification is good. so i got a medical letter from dodmerb

Not to doubt you,but for the benefit of others here, how does one know that they're academically qualified?

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that USMA doesn't send out scholastically qualified letters. I know USNA does and mabye USAFA, but I'm kind of positive that USMA doesn't. I was just guessing about the athletically/physically letter, so if they don't send those out, they probably don't send scholastic letters out, so you should be alright.

Just wondering tho, how exactly do you know if you "passed" CFA? I'm guessing your saying that since you surpassed all the average scores. If so, that's another plus since it should have some extra pull with the academics, alongside the fact that you're a recruited athlete right?

BTW, what are your academic stats? If it'll help I'll compare 'em to mine or somebody else that's already been appointed could do the same so you could have an idea of how you stack up.

lol nvm i re-read your original post and saw that you said you are qualified. If so its only a matter of time.

i maxed out on two events of the cfa Situps, Push ups, also yes i scored aboce average on all of them.

2 noms and qualified. Also a recruited athlete( though not heavily recruited, nontheless, i have contact with the coaches)

My stats are
3.4 GPA
50 out of class of 350
25 act
Chess club 4 years
Football 4 years 3 lettered 2 captain
Track 2 years 2 years lettered 1 year captain
Golf 1 year
Earth Club 1 year
key club 1 year

i say i'm qualified academically because i'm pretty sure. i dont know for a fact but i could guess considering i don't have straight D's or C's lol

Yeah you look to be in a pretty good position. I had like a 3.68, was 2 of 126, had 28 on ACT and 1960 on SAT. IMO, I'd say you're in. Did you get a letter tho saying your on the waiting list or whatever its called? If not thats even better news i think.

nope i havent gotten anything from the academy since going through Dodmerb. though my 2nd nomination updated on my portal on jan 31 and i still havent gotten the darn letter lol. this waiting is the worst part eh?? haha you look to be in good shape to. did you get a nom??

Bobby J you should get in touch with your MALO and/or RC as they will most likely know whether or not you're 3Q'd.

My son did receive a letter from USMA admissions notifying him that he was indeed found to be fully qualified.

Bobby J---My son received a letter from WP stating he was qualified and for them to make him an offer he needed a nomination. He received this letter in December. He has received (2) nominations. He is on the Wait List, which was confirmed by his regional admissions director. They seem to have the answers; so I would advise you to cotact your admissions contact. The waiting is the hardest part. His backup plan is AROTC, which he has received a 4 year scholarship. Good Luck.......MOTBs

i didnt have an LOA and never recieved any letter regarding being qualified so i was sweating in your position not long ago. then i got the acceptance package, so no worries!

rocktheblackandgold...that makes me feel better because i hear of people getting 3q'd letters and then not being accepted and people who never got them getting in so it almost makes me think i'm in a better p:biggrin:osition

I inquired this situation about this a few weeks ago (for those not having an LOA) and was told that you would receive a letter after your application had been viewed by the admissions board.
If you were chosen for your Nomination slate then obviously you would receive an appointment rather than the qualified letter.

My son received a letter almost 2 weeks ago stating that he was found fully qualified and on the National Waiting List. His application was complete on 12/16.

ya i havent received anything saying i'm on the national waiting list. is that a good thing?

My suggestion would be to get in touch with your admissions advisor whether it be by phone or email. Everyone on here can offer you advice but only admissions can really give you a more definitive answer. They can possibly give you know an estimate on when you're application will be seen.

We did just this and everything was spot on.

Whether or not you'll be offered an appointment really depends on how competitive your nominating slate is/was. I can only tell you what happened in my son's case. He had both a nomination from our congressman and one of our state Senators. Unfortunately the SA did not chose him to be #1 on either of their slates and he is now on the National Wait list.

As far as academics are concerned, I can tell you his.
He has a 4.86 weighted, 3.9 unweighted GPA. 28 ACT, 640/640 Sat. National Honor Society, Varsity letter for Academics and so on.

Obviously his WPS wasn't the highest on the slate as someone received the appointment!

BobbyJ - I second those who suggest you contact admissions.

Send and email or call your regional commander. This is the only person who can tell you the status of your application.
The main reason why you haven't heard anything is this is a long and drawn out process for most. It takes time. That said, it's good to drop a friendly line of inquiry.
Be patient as well. Admissions is working overtime right now and that will continue well into the spring.

For you and others.....

It is not too late to visit West Point. You may schedule a candidate visit from the portal. If you and your parents are able to visit then you will have an opportunity to sit down privately with an admissions officer who will review your file with you. Show the love!

i emailed my regional director and malo about 4 days ago and nothing......so idk??

Give it time. They are probably still trying to figure out what to do with you. These guys are working day and night.
if you don't hear in 10 days (two weeks after the email) then call or email again.
